Say what you will, but even that old Protestant "devil" Charles Haddon Spurgeon (who went so far as to accuse the Catholic Church of being the Whore of Babylon) would find more common ground with old time Catholics than today's. Liberalism must be crushed? Seems like it's bidding fair to wipe out what little is left of a biblical message in the Catholic Church.

Bible buffoon at your service,

HTRN

Or should that be "continues?"

Democrats aren't stupid. They're very clever and have some intelligence. If they try to do this they can kiss goodbye to ever winning an election again. Period.

Then, let's hope the scum bag Democrats do it.

I'm sick of the Catholic bashers, too, Theresa; and I'm not even Catholic. The way I figure it, if there's a LOT of flaming going on, there MUST be something in the post that the Devil doesn't want us to see!

The church which years ago said a person had to explicitly claim Roman Catholicism or be lost

Well I started studying the Catechism in 1948, and they definitely did not say that then. Just how many years ago are you talking about?

I am not going to damn any Catholic to hell. I disclaim the power to do that.

Since we're talking about Democrats, isn't it true that the majority of Catholics vote Democrat rather than Republican? If anything, any "Christian bashing" on the part of Democrats will not be crafted so as to alienate this base. Rather, they will set their rhetorical gun sights upon "extremist Protestants." Those are a dangerous Republican base.

The GOP needs to fight fire with fire. They ought to compare the "Left" with communist goals and etc. They are rank and file behind what the communist want to do and are doing in this country.

Let them do it. It'll provide a few more nails in the coffin.

I PRAY they try to do that. Only those with paychecks from the Gov. will even take a listen to that.

The supposed swing vote will get lodged in the conservative camp if the Dems do that.

Let us hope they try! LOL

That would be the most politically stupid move ever. Only Maxine Water's could get re-elected doing that.

I am a proud Christian 1st. Proud husband and father second. Proud American third and a proud republican 4th. I will work hard for future republican candidates and harder to thwart democRAT and unamerican candidates. This is a Christian country despite what the Dims view it.

I think there are ALLEGED christian groups among the "right" wing of the republican party that ARE like the taliban... the only way to escape the smear from the extremist left, is to one, GET RID of the Pat Buchanan types once and for all. We won narrowly last time without them... we need to keep them OUT. If they aren't in the party, we cannot be blamed for their "every egg and every sperm is a person" insanity... or their bomb throwing, take no prisoners hyperbole. And TWO, paint the lefties for being the Communists and Socialist Nazis they are... The extreme right (who want government to dictate THEIR morality to the rest of us) and the extreme left (who want government to dictate their socialist agenda to the rest of us) BOTH agree on letting government TELL citizens what to do with their personal lives.

Most folks just want to be left alone... except for our right wingers here and left wingers on salon. The party that promises to leave us the hell alone the most, is the one that will win... If the dems succeed in presenting the pubbies as the "big spending" government "tells us what to do" party... THEY will win.

One thing about having a texan christian president.... he is fiercely independent and stands for folks freedom to do what they will... and in his case, that involves giving Jesus Christ a plug from the bully pulpit at every reasonable opportunity...

There is coming a major concretization of the pubbie party... the ones that promote rules and the old testament type of attitudes towards the law, sin and punishment vs. the ones that are aware of their own shortcomings, and would often rather choose to extend grace, mercy and forgiveness along with a helping hand to other "failures" in life's adventure.

Truth be told, as a person in my own past, I have often sided with the talibanists among the "faithful" who SOUND all righteous and stuff. Actually they are pretty miserable folk, always so upset about others, they fail to live the postitive ideals their "faith" supposedly promotes. In Jesus' day, HE called them hypocrites.

If the dems actually think they can pull this off, and do, they deserve to win... we can overcome evil with good. Or so it is said. But will we?

Whoa .. where'd THAT come from? I wasn't talking about you or even thinking of you. You must be guilty.

I don't have the foggiest idea how many Catholics are Democrats. I'm not Catholic, nor do I pay any attention to them. But I do get tired of trying to read something, and here comes the Tin Foil Hatters who get their jollies putting other people down. That holds true of other issues, too.

Flamers are too dumb to address the issue, so they do personal attacks just like first graders. Then the next thing we know, the entire thread has become so contaminated that it must be deleted, even though there were some excellent comments regarding the posted info.

I just wish certain FReepers would grow up or go get some psych work done. They need it!

By the way, these remarks are NOT directed at you, HiTech RedNeck. But I will be noticing your posts from now on. "Methinks thou protesteth too much."
