There are more lions and tigers in the United States than in the far east and or
africa. There are more of these creatures in America, in Zoo's and private
collectors alive than in the continents that they come from. The second part of
this trivia, is most "foot ball coliseums "are shaped and designed like the great coliseum in Rome,
hummmmm....... just a thought, if ya can connect the dots.

Google is down ATM, but Yahoo shed some light on the reason for the apparent spelling goof.

Colosseum....Although amphitheaters were built throughout the Roman Empire, none were as large and grand as this. The name, however, derives not from its great size, but from the Colossus, a large bronze statue of Nero, standing near it. It provided good visibility for the more than 50,000 spectators who viewed animal games, spectacles, and gladiatorial combats there. Begun in the 1st century CE by Vespasian, a member of the Flavian family, it remained in use until the early 6th century.

Pax vobiscum

HA!

You hadn't heard? The NAATT (National Association for the Advancement of Troubled Trees) demanded statistical sampling to ensure that all trees were counted.

Thought you knew. Just where have you been?!

You are mighty kind. In the interest of full disclosure and fair play, I must concede that the Michelin Guide Verte spell it "Coliseum." They're wrong, of course. The French impose many of their orthographic idiosyncracies on Italian place names. It's no coincidence that chauvinisme is a French word.

You post links to six articles which while antigovernment in tone are at least written by rational people capable of making some valid points. You then blow your credibility out of the water by posting a bunch of paranoid nonsense about mind control. You then expect people to assume based on reading the first six articles that the seventh article should also be taken seriously.

Actually (pushing my nerdy glasses further up the bridge of my nerdy nose) it's the Flavian Amphitheater...or Amphitheatre if you're British.
