Just got a call from John. He is up in San Jose preparing for the move. The system will probably be coming down about two hours from now and it will probably be down for a couple hours. When it comes back up we will be on our new IP address which will be: 209.157.64.200
He has set the current DNS service to expire every hour, so it should not take too long for the new address to propagate out to all the name servers.
Don't forget to bookmark our contingency site: http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/freerepublic

Reminder to all Freepers to make a note of the new server address and check your HOST file in windows if you are using it.

You don't have to.
The DNS looks at the www.freerepublic.com and figures out the numbers for you.
John is setting it up so that the DNS will catch it when it changes.
It should work just like before.
Its the end of the world as we know it...?

Arrrgh. No, no. I am sincere about this.

Type it in as a regular web address. Or clear your cache and let your browser find it.

You should be able to access FR without any trouble. If you have trouble and find you can't get in, type
http://www.209.157.64.200
in the address area of your browser and you should be able to get into FR. After that, just rebookmark it as your home page, of course! You don't need to type the address until Jim let's us know via the Yahoo site that FR is up and running. I hope that's right.....
