DC Chapter To Help Our FRiend, Linda Tripp -- Here's How You Can Help, Too -- Thread #2
DC Chapter of Free Republic | December 15, 2001 | Angelwood

Posted on 12/15/2001 6:43:02 PM PST by Angelwood

The D.C. Chapter of Free Republic will forever admire the courageous stand taken by Linda Tripp to tell the truth during the dark days of the investigation leading up to the impeachment of President Clinton. This was done at great personal sacrifice.

It is with great sadness and concern that we learned recently that, while others have profited handsomely from their criminal acts during the Clinton era, Linda Tripp has been nearly bankrupted and is facing foreclosure on her home. She was fired from her government job by Bill Clinton on the last day of his term. Her attempts to find another position in her field at the George C. Marshall Center in Germany were sabotaged by a leak to the press.

Since then, according to press reports, Linda has not been able to find work commensurate with her experience. We believe that this is because she is considered radioactive as a result of her reputation for telling the truth and not going along with the business-as-usual practices of those who do work with the Federal Government.

According to press reports, actions leading to foreclosure on Linda's home in Columbia, Maryland, have commenced. She had been renting the home out while staying with friends but it has recently been without tenants.

Members of the D.C. Chapter are stepping forward to help Linda in her time of need. We want her to have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. If you would like to share the D.C. Chapter's efforts as we give a hand up to a FRiend, here's how you can do so:

Send a check or money order payable to Linda Tripp. Please send it c/o David K. Colapinto, Esq., Kohn, Kohn & Colapinto, P.C., 3233 P Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. 20007. Mr. Colapinto will see that whatever funds are received will go directly to Linda Tripp and not to a defense fund.

Disclaimer: This is a voluntary effort organized by the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic. The posting of this notice is with the consent of Free Republic, LLC. However, none of the donations for Linda will be handled by or through Free Republic, LLC, or the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic. Therefore, neither Free Republic, LLC, nor the D.C. Chapter have any responsibility for the accounting or disposition of the donations.

This effort by the D.C. Chapter is solely our idea. Linda Tripp did not ask for these donations, nor did anyone else. We are doing this because we care.

Once more, MERRY CHRISTMAS, LINDA!

There, I spelled it correctly this time.

After an evening in the company of fellow FReepers, filled with good food, great fudge (I made it) and plenty of good cheer, I am posting this thread again for any who may have missed it the first time. FReep On and Ho Ho Ho -- Merry Christmas, Everyone!

Thanks Anglewood, and A MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and the DC Chapter. I can probably send Linda a few bucks to try and help out.

I do admire Linda Tripp but I don't understand her decision to get a facelift instead of saving her home? Anyone, anyone?

That was probably before she lost this job.

I just found out on FR tonight that Linda Tripp was telling the press that President Bush Sr. had an affair. Some on FR say it's true but that it was highly improper of her to abuse her position in the Bush White House to leak the story; some say it's false and that it's despicable that she slandered President Bush Sr. Either way, it seems she's not only been an overpaid secretary sucking $100,000/yr from the taxpayers for years, but she's abused her position as a pubic servant and that this is why President Bush Jr. has left her twisting in the wind.

I heard on the news tonight (Fox News, I think) that Linda was not going to lose her house after all. She's come up with enough funds to hold onto it and plans on selling it in the near future.

this is why President Bush Jr. has left her twisting in the wind.

Why would she be G.W. Bush's responsibility in any case? He's got other fish to fry.

There was a post tonight by someone suggesting that Bush Jr. should give her a high paying tax payer funded job in the federal government, even thought her private sector earning power appears to be zero.

Linda's facelift was provided by an anonymous donor several years ago. At that time, she was still employed at the Pentagon. She was fired from her position on Clinton's last day in office and has been unable to find comparable work since then.

"Comparable employment"? I'm trying to think of the company that would want to hire a secretary who spread ugly (false) rumors about her boss and pay her $100,000/yr for the privilege.

That's great news about Linda Tripp being able to pay the arrears on her mortgage. I was out all day and all evening and haven't seen any of this news reported. Thanks.

Do a little better research before posting so many inaccuracies.

I thought she was going to write a book? Wasn't she in regular contact with Luciene Goldberg? What's happened?

I'm passing on what I've heard on FR. If any part of that is inaccurate, post a correction so we can know what sort of a person Linda Tripp really is.

Well, if you think the President is 'leaving her twisting in the wind', you apparently agree with that at some level. For my part, I don't think she should be on his radar screen, but she certainly should be on ours.

She put herself at great risk to expose one of the lies of our nation's most evil president, resulting in his impeachment, and she paid a high price in many ways. Whether or not she's competent to sweep floors, she deserves to be rewarded by those of us who understand what she did for us. This isn't a question of her economic utility; I don't see why you mention it.

How about this for two. She was not a secretary, and she was a GS-15 and didn't make $100K/year.

What's a GS15? What did she make? Why hasn't she been able to find private sector employment in almost a year? And is it true that she leaked to the press that George Bush Sr. had an affair, and if so did she slander him, and if not was it nonetheless an abuse of her position on the White House? You seem to know what's going on. Let's get the facts on the table. There seems to have been misinformation posted on other threads and there's no need if you can set the record straight.
