LarryLied, I too was shocked at the salary she was getting for being the head of a secretary pool. But!!!... I also live in the D.C. area (yeah, the politics stench gets real bad at times) and can tell you that $80K per year will barely qualify you for a small house in the inexpensive neighborhoods (around $220,000 for the cheap little houses now). I know where she lived in Columbia, MD and I can tell you that it was a basic middle class neighborhood that would take up almost all of that $80K per year just to pay the mortgage.

Should the pay for a "cheif secretery" be less?... YES!!! Should Linda Tripp be ruined because of Monica's ex-boyfriend's corrupt administration? NO!!!

Have a blessed Christmas

Larry, I don't know where you live. But $80g's a year doesn't get you very much in D.C., especially when you're supporting a family. And when that $80,000 suddenly disappears you're left with a big, and I mean big, mortgage. Homes aren't cheap in Columbia, MD.

Merry Christmas, Linda, and thank you for all that you tried to do for America. By helping you, FReepers can know that they are helping to close a wound from the past.

While FReepers have their checkbooks out, they should not forget their need to help David Horowitz protect our future. Until now, most Americans have been forced to watch our country and its culture drift further and further to the left. Not knowing the true reasons for this degeneration, we have felt helpless to stop it. We have wasted our time and our money supporting political candidates who have cynically sold us false promises about their ability to restore true American values. Now, after years of investigation and with precious little time to spare, David Horowitz has finally found the ACTUAL SOURCE of this foul tide. Armed with irrefutable proof, he has exposed the CONSERVATIVE HOLOCAUST that has until now been secreted behind the tall, ivy-covered walls of academia.

FReepers, I personally urge you to support Mr. Horowitz's campaign in every way possible. Forget the politicians. Instead, speak to your neighbors. Form committees. Demand to see what is actually written in the textbooks given to our kids. Write letters demanding protection for conservative students and faculty. Show up at David's campaign stops. Finally, and most importantly, I urge you to immediately send David as much money as you possibly can to save our conservative values from extinction. And please, FReepers, DIG DEEP because this is no time for half measures.

With David's leadership, we can and we will DEFEAT INTELLECTUAL TERRORISM and save our country from the evils of FULL BLOWN SOCIALISM.

Thank you, America, LET'S ROLL!

I know, I know. I am just depressed I guess. My mom's pension and SS amount to 11K. Her medical expenses are over 8K a year. Last year I had to hire an accountant because the IRS audited her (she sold a couple grand in stocks at a loss and didn't report it). I've had my fill of government workers complaining about what they make or how poor they are. But look on the bright side , my bitching got a lot of replies and perhaps Linda has been helped. I hope so, I hold no grudge against her as a person.

Afternoon bump. I apologize for my spelling in the comment section. I'll just have to do it again (correctly this time).

Good to see you posting again.

I wish to second your flame on Larry Lied. What a jerk! I spent 7 years in the Air Force Reserves earning very little, and 9 years as a U. S. Customs Inspector. My first three years I was on the Mexican border. Dirty thankless work, and misreble hours. I arrested several drug smuggler. I put my life on the line for a base salary of less than $16,000 my first year (1985, although to hear my kids talk it was 1895).

Mr. passionfruit is still a Customs Inspector. We haven';t seen much of him since September 11th. He's off making far less money than he is worth, keeping the rest of us safe. He does this rather than something more lucritive because he is a patriot. That's why I did it too, and I worked with many others who were kindred spirits.

If not for the smear campaign put on by the Clinton administration and Monica the Mouth, Linda Tripp could have been making a great living.

Bump for an excellent Christmas idea !

Yep, the "Impeached Ex-President Clinton" does have a very nice ring to it, and she certainly helped big time.

Very, very good. I push my kids to adopt a child for christmas,

and have been looking for my own personal person to do in private.

I can't think of anyone more deserving, period.

Thanks again for the idea.

Wasn't it someone else who paid for her cosmetic surgery?

Angelwood, I enclosed a thank-you note with my check. It said:

Dear Linda,

Thank you for all you've endured as a consequence of telling the truth. You are every tyrant's worst nightmare.

With much love, (signature)

I encourage others to include thank you cards with their checks. I expect Linda would appreciate the encouragement.

I have no bloody idea.

But...........if she had ALREADY been given money, why did she spend it on cosmetic surgery rather than her mortgage payments.

She is indeed a brave person for what she did. I have previously thanked her for that by sending her defense fund a check and was totally embarassed when I heard about this extravagant, vain and wasteful act. I would have given her more credit if the money had been put into some kind of investment for a rainey day.

Ciao.

If my memory serves me right, Linda did not pay for the cosmetic surgery. I don't know why you'd begrudge her getting something done to enhance her appearance.
