Just did a study of Israeli-Palestinian conflict
Rant

Posted on 12/06/2001 12:29:07 PM PST by robjna

Forgive me if I have things wrong and please correct me if my personal research has led me astray. Let me also preface this post by stating that Palestinian lunatics like Hamas need to be destroyed.

With that said, my research has led me to belive that the palestinians have been screwed throughout history. Israel, by force has seized so much land and then infringed even further into palestinian land. They ignored the U.N. recommondations and siezed vast amounts of land from Palestine. Israelis were the minority and by force , displaced weaker, huge masses of Palestinians. I have spent most of my life hating the PLO and blaming them for the huge Middle-east problem. now I beleive the Iraels are also to blame. I never really understood the issue and decided to find out. I strongly believe there needs to be distinct boundries that must be respected by both sides. I was surprised to see how many Israeli settlements were in Palestinian areas. I guess I figured out there is two sides to every story. Come on fellow freepers, educate me and tell me your beliefs.

Israel and the PA can't negotiate a settlement if the Israeli's are dickering over how many square mile to turn over but the Palestinians are trying to decide whether to kill all the Jews or maybe let a few live.

Very well put! It seems to me that both sides have a credible claim to the real estate, and some kind of compromise should be worked out. But only one side is interested in doing so.

from their homeland, as they call Palestine

I don't know if that is a legitimate quote.......but you must be the dumbest person on Earth.

You posted proof that you and your Arab friends are liars.

Read it again:

their homeland, as they call Palestine

The Jewish homeland. Long before Herzl.

"...ethnic cleansing..."

The only people in the Middle East subscribing to ethnic cleansing are the Palestinians. No Jews are allowed to live in the PA controlled territories. No Jews are allowed to live in Jordan, which has a majority Palestinian population. When the Arabs conquered the West Bank and East Jerusalem in the 1948 war, they EXPELLED EVERY JEW. Almost every Jew has been forced to leave almost every Muslim country in the Middle East. Hitler would be proud of them, because they are "judenrein" (free of Jews).

On the other hand, there are almost a million Arabs living in Israel happily and voluntarily.

Pardon me if I am dubious of you

Ya, I'm a bit dubious myself of the tabula raza act. Myself, I have been reading up on economic systems, and have just discovered that socialism is not a very efficient one. I'm shocked I tell you, shocked.

"Here is a good site that is published by an Israel Peace Group that I found informative albeit one-sided. Good luck and let us know if you find any informative sites."

I've found that these Israeli peace groups are almost as biased as the Arab groups. What these Israeli peace groups should be doing is taking a look to see why there are no Arab peace groups. Why do you think that is? No Arab or Muslims calling for their own side to ease up?

"Sorry, I checked you out, and you are far too balanced. You post on far too many subjects to be a ADL mole"

So I'm an ADL mole huh? If you check me out as carefully as you did this guy you will see that I have had some choice words for the ADL on numerous threads.

You really don't give a crap when 800,000 Jews are kicked out of Arab nations do you? You prefer Jews defenseless and without guns too. For you and the other leftists all you see are Pallie refugees.

WELL! How about these Jews that got screwed by your Arab nations? We know what you want for the Palestinians. Now what do these evicted Jews get?

There are many sides to this conflict and this site has its own agenda I said it was one-sided but it is informative about that side. There are no easy answers on this issue and it is good to learn as much as possible on all sides.

Although I disagree with what I am about to say, let's pretend this is a valid premise. ----Both sides are equally wrong in their claims and equally deserving in the land.---- Now, who wants peace and takes ACTIONS to prove they want peace? Who doesn't. Btw, I think it's very clear to make the point that both sides are NOT equal in their cliams to begin with. But assuming they are, it's clear who has been making the steps and outreach and who hasn't. It is the same people that have also been the friend of America (and not the people that cheer when 5000 citizens are blown to smithereens by their brothers in arab states)

Israel has f-16's, tanks, subs with nuclear cruise missiles, the USA 5th fleet, George Bush, Tony Blair, etc.

Yes that is true. Bush and Blair support Israel. Them and the VAST majority of Americans. How about where you are, in Canada?

100 kids with sling shots? What about all the mortar shells, 45000+ machine guns, and explosives that they strap to their people to take to malls filled with Israeli Teenagers on a Saturday night?

You are correct that there are two sides to every issue. This mantra is a very modern invention that makes good people feel good. It is one of those good intentions that end up hurting both the truth and people.

There is no "two sides" in a robbery in the street, in a rape of a woman in her bedroom by an intruder. Victimhood has been so overplayed that almost anyone looks like a victim: Blacks, women, "transgendered people" (coming soon: trans-species people). At the same time, we lost our ability to recognize victims as victims, not parties to the debate.

Like many, I have reservations about some policies of the Israeli government. But telling someone, as you did, that "there are two sides to every issue" and ignoring the fact that Israel has been attacked repeatedly, that to this day Palestinians call for its entire destruction --- that is going a bit too far from fairness.

Yes, several generations of Israelis grew up under such hostile conditions and they well may not be objective to Palestinians. Well, that party which made them so distrustful bears, then, the responsibility to provide extra guarantees to re-establish trust. Blowing up a bus full of people surely does not help.

In the case of the victim of rape, it is easy to criticize the poor woman of not being objective to men. What would you say about me, were I to declare that in her case, too, "there are two sides" of the issue? How did she contribute to rape? By sleeping in hew own bedroom? Let's complicate the matters: suppose she was kicking and screaming, and inflicted some serious damage to the rapist's face. Is that what confuses you? That you see blood on both bodies? I hope that you would call some bad names anybody who could not recognize a victim when he sees one. I hope you would be outraged if you heard that "there are two sides."

Unfortunately, I know that I am wrong: nothing is sacred any longer. Everything has two sides now. Thus, Antanta caused Hitler's rise to power by extracting "humiliating" concessions, Jews caused the Holocaust by their evil nature, and a woman causes to be raped by leaving her bedroom window open.

Should we be surprised that Israel has caused its troubles by refusing to die after five wars? They have and continue to try to defend themselves by various means. They have traded land for peace with Egypt. They invaded Lebanon next door for the same reason we have invaded Afghanistan 5,000mi away. They build settlements.

As with all real-world actions, one could question whether the policies Israel chhoses for its self-defense are best. If a woman being raped manages to push back but cripple the intruder, this too may be questioned as excessive force. But only an insensitive moral-relativistic SOB would put the victim and the perpetrator on the same moral plane and say that "that there are two sides to every issue."

'Israel and America bashing. LOL.'

Somehow I don't get the LOL in your post. Laughing? I doubt it. More like growling over some one bringing a site like post #66 to everyone's attention. Guess the internet's a dangerous thing to people who want to limit information to their own particular 'spin' on things.

Thanks NimbleBunny. Bookmarked for a later read.

That site in #66 is no longer functioning at the moment. Must be the Jewish Conspiracy that took it down. Terrorist Sympathisers should find more stable locations than Geocities to publish their propganda...
