When I was growing up, my dad wouldn't ever give us a band-aid unless we were bleeding. I sure spent a lot of time trying to make my bob-boos bleed. :) And I love putting band-aids on my nieces and nephews. Putting band-aids on sure stop the tears quickly.

Good, I'm glad you're enjoying Black Hawk Down. It is always interesting to recommend a book to someone, you never quite know how it is going to be received. I just saw the previews for the movie Black Hawk Down. I may have to fit it into my post Christmas holiday.

(Quick, what the heck did I say way back on #29???)
Oh yeah, now I remember! Thanks!
And thanks for the info I didn't know!!
To: Utah Girl
By the way, does Black Hawk Down recount the incident in which the father of one of the Rangers who was killed in Somalia dresses down UOx42, calling him 'unfit to lead'? I wish I had a video of that....
To: kayak
Thank you for putting me on your ping list..It is so easy to find ATRW now....

LOL about the band-aids, Uncle Doggie! I agree with Utah Girl .... it's wonderful .... stops the tears so quickly.
One thing that really has worried us is that GrandBoy was going through that ... wanting a band-aid for every little thing ..... making a big deal of every boo-boo. Then one Sunday evening he came home from a visit with The Jerk and had marks on his arm .... but wouldn't talk about it at all ...... :-(
..... there have been too many of that type of incident .... but nothing provable ..... :-(
..... hmmmmm .... wonder if we could persuade The Jerk to join the Taliban?

It's been so long since I read Black Hawk Down. I'll have to look at my copy. I don't think it does. In fact the authors are a bit too nice to x42. I blame him for everything, and I think the authors have since said that a lot of the problems were his fault. I honestly can't remember. If it does, it was very periphereal to the book.
To: Guenevere
I don't know if I'd call Black Hawk Down an uplifting book. It is historical non-fiction. Pretty matter of fact retelling. And it is discouraging in the fact that the incident took place in 1993, we had 7 more years of Clintons' non-leadership to look forward to...
To: Guenevere
Guenevere, it's not really uplifting, unless you count the idea that at least some of those involved managed to survive, thru perservance and dedication to each other...
It's the details that the author accumulated, and the moment by moment account that puts you right there that is so fascinating....
To: Utah Girl
Of course the authors were nice to UOx42 -- the authors are from The Philadelphia Inquirer!
To: Bitwhacker
That would be at the end of the book if it's there, and I haven't gotten that far yet...
Will get back to you, unless UG does first...
To: Molly Pitcher; Utah Girl
I too blame Clinton .....and remember that poor Dad who was so heartbroken & angry with the president.
...I might be mistaken, but I think after the Dad spoke out, he was audited...(one of Bill's little ploys)
...I can never watch that newsreel where our boys are dragged through the streets....
I might read the book....don't know if I can watch the movie.
Well, I'm closing down for the night :)
Stay well!!
To: Guenevere
'Night, Guennie! God bless!

but have to admit ignorance on how to use it [the mega-ping list]...as you intend...Actually, that subject is open for discussion .....
My original intent was to create a ping list of all the regular posters since we can now post to an unlimited number of people at one time now. Then when I wanted to post something to everyone, I could truly do that. And I wanted to share it with everybody in case others wanted to copy it and keep it for the same purpose.
..... it would be useful not only for pinging people to this thread but to others, also.
But it has grown much beyond that concept. Based on the response to it, I'm beginning to think it would be a good idea to use it at least once on each day's ATRW thread so that everyone on the list will be able to find the thread easily.
In fact I've been thinking of suggesting to Chairman that he use it when he starts the thread since y'all are frequently on the second page of posts before I even have a chance to check in.
I do not consider it my list but ours .... so the use of it is very much open to group discussion.
How is your wrist feeling now that the stitches are out? I guess that has been over-shadowed by your feeling bad the last few days. Hope you're back to normal soon .... *hugs*

Thanks for the ping and inclusion on the mega-list for ATRW. It is truly an honor to be in such awesome company!
Sounds like you are definitely a busy bee with work. Me too although a December break is within reach in a few more weeks. I'm all consumed these days with a battle about doing the pledge as part of morning announcements at the elementary school where I teach. I got it started soon after 9/11 as a tribute to the innocents murdered that day. Now, it's a great tribute to our soldiers in the air, on land and at sea! Not to mention the fact that it's just a great way to show some respect and patriotism for our country no matter what the circumstances. Sadly, some of my mind-numbed, liberal-biased colleagues don't see it that way. We are in a real fight to the finish as I'm not backing down on this one at all and they're pretty use to getting their way with the usually liberal, spineless administration. We will actually vote on the matter this week after three months of nonsense....I'm pretty excited because the other side is going to get thrashed in the vote. They deserve all that and more. Can't wait for it to be official. Then, we'll continue doing the pledge loud and proud and those who were being jerks about it will have been exposed for what they are---liberal a#@holes. I'm positively gleeful about the prospects!!
Hope that wasn't too much information but it feels good to gloat in advance!!

Kay - Those are all valid ideas about the super-list...
Using it at least once a day would be very helpful!
The wrist is healing, and I'm trying to do the exercises!:-) Still a little stiff...
Hugs to you too!

Thank you for that link about Foxnews! I hadn't seen that and it is a treasure!
After reading the remarks you suggested, I have even more respect for them, and felt like cheering!
The article is a hoot, in that the NYT's is implying the other networks are neutral and unbiased! Yes, just like the Times! LOL

You've got FReepmail ..... and you've just been *pinged* ... twice now ..... :-)
