I cannot for the life of me understand why anyone would be critical of this web site. Thanks for all that you and your family have sacrificed to make FreeRepublic possible.

I have been registered here for a year and a half, lurked for a year and a half before that. Also, I am a monthly contributor who feels it is the best money I spend all month.
I live in Oregon (Portland metro area). Before I found FR, I didn't know there were other conservatives in Oregon!
Dang it, Jim...FR is my security blanket! Please don't go...

Hi Jim, When your in charge they kick you and they kick you hard, but the best part is when your real friends hold you up.I can do 25.00 every 3 months.

1. 10 to 20 dollars a month minimum for unlimited use, with an option to voluntarily increase fees. Example: I'm in college and unemployed, living off my savings, so I'll pay what I can now, and when I hit the "big time" I can "step up the ca$h flow"...
2. I don't know if you do this, but how 'bout FreeRepublic hats, (one with the eagle logo, and one with that top of each page "letterhead") jackets, and of course, the ubiquitous coffee mug. (in large and crack addict sizes) I'd buy some of that stuff!
I don't think that stuff is cheesy, or "capitalist pig-ish" or anything like that... Neither are additional freepathons. I'm making a donation right now. This site means a lot to me. I do not want to see it go. Thank you Jim, for TRULY making our world a better place!

I thank you for providing FR free of charge. I suppose I am not alone in donating exclusively to organizations that provide financial data to prospective donors. If this is a non-profit then open books are not much to ask. If it is not a non-profit, then I still love FR and hope it remains free of charge.

There's a time and a place to be silly.
This is neither the time, nor the place.

There is NOTHING of political, nor cultural value, in thread after thread (about) Harry Potter (and) which music FREEPERS (prefer) . . Culture is all-embracing, and threads of the kind you mention help dispel the canard that conservatism is monolithic, dull, rigid and oppressive.
Well, most of them do.

Of late I FREEP sporadically at best, in part because of work obligations and in part because I have begun work on writing my first book. But whatever the differences between us on the right, this much at least can be said: FreeRepublic versus its enemies is rather as George Will once described Robert Bork versus his: a great blue whale being attacked by anchovies. Long may this great blue whale swim!!

Jim, anytime I can do ANYTHING to help, just holler.
I have told John before I am also a co-owner and webmaster of some commercial sites,
one of which has been on line since 11/17/97.
Any services I can offer would always be free to you.

This site is A BIG FAT LIE!
What I'm really saying is that it's too good to be true!
Thanks for all you have done for us, Jim, and keep doing it your way.

Jim, it is time to turn FR into a real business. The only way to continue your dream is to take the next step. There are at least 3 ways...
1)Baisc Subscription (general access)
2)Premium Subscription (special access)
3)Advertising
You could easily do the same type of banner stuff Drudge does. Also/or you can do affiliate stuff, maybe ceate a 'sponsor' section to feature the sites you are an affiliate of.
Sorry, but the donation thing won't cut it long term.

Keep this site running. It's been too successful against the liberal DemonRATS. That's why it they hate FreeRepublic so much. If it takes a monthly fee to run it, then so be it. And thanks for this terrific conservative site! On to more conquests! Bingo! Look at what happened when FReepers showed up down in Florida. I'll never forget how proud I was of those wonderful FReepers. Sore/Loserman.

Joe, I'm going to NY on Saturday. Put me down for $200...do I have to repledge, or can you just use the Credit card on file? Same question here, Joe. Do I have to repledge, or can you just put it on Hildy's credit card?
(Just kidding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

Jim, I am more of a "lurker" than a poster, but I just love Free Republic. It has carried me/us through so many crises over the past few years. This and a few other sites are the only knowledgeable, conservative sites on the Internet that I know of. One of the things that makes Free Republic so much better than the others is the quality of the "experts" who respond to the articles. The other sites I've checked give emotions rather than facts. For examples: With the Elian atrosity, there were posters who had access to Spanish papers and could get news the rest of us couldn't. Just recently when the skybus crashed into the New York community, there were people who work(ed) with all facets of planes, their construction, their maintenence, how they handle, the physics of the instability of the winds from the plane in front, and so on. Where else could you get this type of expert knowledge? The average person (me, for instance) wouldn't even know what to look for, much less understand it if I did find it. Do WE need it? I would miss it terribly. This site is my anchor in very unstable times. I check it at least once a day.
