Are there any other FReepers that sell on eBay? I sell more than I buy, but I would like to "Buy FReeper" when I can. Post a link to your auctions here and we can support each other.

I am an antique dealer in real life, so I buy on eBay a lot, I have sold things occassionally, but usually am a spender, not a receiver! I have found it a great place to buy for resale!

Got nothing left over to sell. :-) No problem. I can fix you right up.Buy it from me and sell it to somebody else.

I have found it a great place to buy for resale! Aha! So you're the one buying all my stuff at bargain basement prices and reselling it.

Oddly enough,my E-Bay screen name is "sneakypete1". They wouldn't accept just plain "sneakypete".

Hey, that's the trick to making the real money. Ahhh-HAH! I knew I was doing something wrong.

If I put a coat of paint on that '46 Ford can I drive it home?

I have seen you on there lots of times. You bid too don't you? I think we have bid against each other before!
To: ladyinred
If so, that's hilarious - because I (sometimes) buy things from dealers to sell on eBay!

LOL too bad this is might not be able to stay on, good idea I think! I wondered if this was allowed or not, maybe not! But thanks for trying!

I sell on ebay too, and wonder if any of the FReeper eBayers have comments on the new changes at eBay, especially checkout and the new search.
The ebay discussion boards are FULL of negative comments. I have not seen one positive comment, and I personally do not like either feature. Check out the Discuss New Features forum sometime.
They just changed the end of auction emails that they send sellers,so that the bidders email adress is no longer a dynamic link that you can click on to bring up a new email page....now you have to copy and paste....they make it more work for the seller to try and PUSH the use of their checkout service (which if it somehow catches on will probably have a small, per transaction fee, attached to it sometime in the future IMHO). For some reason, even though I state I do not use checkout, when a bidder does contact me through checkout, I get two identical emails separated by about a minute. Lots of the checkout generated emails come well after I have sent the bidder all the payment info.
After ebaying for 2 years, I get the feeling that the eBay administration is like the Clinton Administration or Lib Dems in general: They never admit anything they do or change is wrong, no matter how many people protest/complain. They are hardly responding to the flood of complaints on the discussion boards
eBay is still the big dog in online auctions, but they are getting a lot of sellers quite angry.

Marking.

Gee Thanks Flyer. I didn't get a chance until just now to check this thread and there I am along with all the other Ebayers in link form! NEATO!! Happy Thanksgiving all.

I HATE the checkout!! I am getting two and three requests per auction for the information. I do not use Billpoint or E-payments. I do use Paypal. Had my first fraudulant check return and found out that this user, who has been unregistered, had written over 200 bad checks. I prefer not accepting checks.

I thought I liked checkout at first - but now I am very frustrated with it.It's bad for sellers, but even worse for buyers - I've been trying to pay for a doll dress since Sunday.
All my auctions just ended - I can't believe I was such an idiot as to end them late on the night before Thanksgiving!

One of the big problems I would have with checkout (if I used it) would be with shipping. I sell all sorts of thingsthat weigh from a few ounces in weight, to over 50 pounds, and like to give bidders a few shipping options (like do they want it fast, or can they wait a bit, and I'll let them choose Postal or UPS rates). Checkout makes no provision for that. A number of big sellers on the DNF Forum have alos had big problems with the online pay part of checkout.
I think they (ebay) paid a lot of money to a euro firm for the new search technology, that no one seems to like. They claim to have beta tested it on 100,000 ebay users but no one on any of the discussion boards was part of the test group and no I have heard from knows of anyone who was in that group. Many doubt that they beta tested it at all.
Why do they pull this stuff right before the holiday shopping period? None of the changes thay have made since I started was needed IMHO..
A few months ago when they added all the picture hosting code to the sell page, a lot of people (me included) could not get the Sell page to load without a screen freeze or a crash, even after changing our browser settings to ebay specs. I had to use an old, old, sell page, that another user has stored on an off ebay website to load auctions for a few weeks.
ebay eventually fixed their code and servers so I (and many, many others) could use the current sell page again, but they didn't tell anyone when it was fixed, or admit their screw up. A DNF regular is a long time programmer and systems analyst and he watched as they kept changing the code to try and fix the problem over a month, and he kept me a few others current with their attempts at a fix. The thing is, it worked fine before they went and screwed it up, but they would not go back to the progam that worked (well the new page tries to force the iPix picture hosting down your throat, as ebay owns it and will make money off of it)....another case of them absolutely refusing to admit they are ever wrong about anything.

If I put a coat of paint on that '46 Ford can I drive it home? No,it's a definite "fixer-upper",but the price reflects this. It would make a excellent recreation of the dirt track stock cars of the 60's,though.
I'll probably be putting my 86 Diesel pu and 87 Mustang GT convertible up for bid next week. Those can be driven anywhere. I GOTTA sell something to pay for the cars I bought this month!
To: BansheeBill
especially checkout Checkout sucks.
To: redlipstick
I've been trying to pay for a doll dress since Sunday. The best way to get around using checkpoint is to ignore it alltogether, and just go to the PayPal web site and send the seller a PayPal payment directly from the PayPal site. All you need is their e-mail address.

Do you have any old mining books, especially of the Comstock lode and Virginia City Nevada:? Thanks Boo Boo
