What has happened to Free Republic

Has anyone noticed that the Liberal influence has spread here into Free Republic. I notice that less and less Conservatives seem to post here, and more and more Libertarians seem to be.
I get a letter from someone named NYpeanut who is mad because I posted a discussion based on the Gender Gap in voting.
I didn't make it up, there is really a huge Gender gap with Female Voters tending toward the more liberal candidate. The discussion went well without name calling, but this person seems to have taken issue to the fact that I pointed out women seem to vote more liberally than men.
All those who are newbies here are considered disruptors, and those who hold a more right-winged view than the average libertarian seem to be kicked out.
Why is this? Is this a Libertarian site now?
I have noticed more and more posters standing up for Abortion, Homosexuality, the Porn Industry and Drugs since I first came to this site back before the 2000 Election.
Are Christian Conservatives(Who make up a large part of the Republican core vote) not allowed here anymore?
Just because one holds to a higher power, and wishes to shape society in accordance with the laws of Almighty God, does not make one a Taliban Milita member.

All of your posts on the subject seem to indicate a verbal battle between kindly anti-Potter grandmas and hateful vindictive pro-Potter/pro-witchcraft mobs. Where the anti-Potter folks were interested in a gentle and thorough debate on the merits and drawbacks of the Potter books but that those discussions never bore fruit because they were stopped cold by anti-Potterites who desired no rational debate.
That sounds lovely, and it is certainly an interesting perspective. But its not what happened on Potter threads.

Now why don't you tell me why it's okay for you to tell us how we are like a scumbag terrorists who indiscriminately kill anybody they see fit?

Do you mean WERE in the context that they have gone to that big Appalachian Snake Handler convention in the sky OR do you mean they have taken up alternative methods of expressing their religious fervor, such as fire-walking and/or drinking arsenic?
YES.

My motto is: GET THE GOVERNMENT OUT of my bedroom and my habits. The main purpose of the Federal Gov is to keep it's citizens safe and secure from Foreign or Domestic intrusion. Well said. We're beset here with people who want to impose their rigid standards on everyone.

Noticed all that in a few days, did you?

Amazing how some think we should all walk lockstep together, eh? Yep!! Just like the Taliban. ;-)

"It seems to me that the female voice is loud and clear on FR..."
My advice to you is...KEEP THINKING!
Even a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.

We also advocate ramming a jetliner into a building, killing thousands in the process. Insulting? You're hallucinating again ... where did I even remotely suggest you're flying into buildings. :)
To: mercy
I know what you mean mercy, but the tactic usually has the opposite result of what was intended. Just something I have learned over the years. I respond more of a spirited but level headed discussion. I see a lot of that on FR so I'm not complaining, just commenting about the posters observation.

I'll bet his calls for prayer are absolutely killing you, huh? Or did you forget that?
Liberalism is dying dear........it collapsed with the WTC on 9-11.

Nobody's going to tell me what I can and cannot do with my body--certainly not Big Brother in Washington.
To: deport
I don't think he is whining. I think he is addressing a very valid point. Libertarians are a crude self-important lot who think they've cornered the market on the political philosophy of the right and consistently abuse their detractors here on FR. I don't want them banned. Leashed and muzzeled maybe but never banned.

Marxist notions? Let him hate me. I consider such hatred a mark of honor, a mark of distinction. Geeze...you always go for the dramatic presentation!-)

EVERYONE agrees that killing a 6 year old child is murder- that's why it's so clear cut and the corresponding laws passed- we ALL agree on this issue. However, NOT everyone agrees that killing an unborn child is murder. You won't find any argument from me on that- or on this entire forum (from my experience)- but that's not the issue. At issue is the fact that there are enough people who believe killing an unborn child is not murder that laws have not been passed.I think you would get about 50/50 who feel it is not unlawful to kill someone who rapes a family member especially a child
So by your logic it should be legal until a large majority find it illegal
P.S. the same arguement could be advanced agaist or for drugs

Well said. We're beset here with people who want to impose their rigid standards on everyone. Bet they think the Afghanistan's SHOULD abide by their rules and standards, also. They just can't let people be. It's as if what's good for them should be good for all living matter. IMO, it's very UNConstitutional

Republican candidates TALK like they're pro-freedom, true enough. But what good are they when they cave in to the Democommies without even putting up a fight (I point to this stupid "air safety" legislation as the latest cave-in)? The GOP has the best ideas, but no backbone. They're worthless. But as long as Arizona keeps electing McCommie, Mississippi electing Lott, Illinois electing Hastert, etc...well, we're screwed.

The original poster (why do you identify with him?) wants to "go back to the way things used to be". If you look at the tenets of Wahhabism and in turn, the Taliban, that is the basis of their beliefs ... to go back to the old ways, no modernization, to live and dress like the old days ... that's part of the reason they are stuck in the middle ages. Sounds groovy to you? No to me!

Very well put, Arkinsaw. Liked the previous posts as well.
