Great Post, SirChas!

So glad to see those who served and suffered so much for the country we love, being honored by military cadets, especially on an ORDINARY DAY (i.e. not Veterans Day or Memorial Day).

BUMP to the top!

Some of those USA POWs on the field may well be from the Pacific Theater of WWII, having worked as SLAVE LABORERS in Japanese coal mines for major Japanese industry (Mitsubishi, Kawasaki Heavy, Mitsui, Kumagai Gumi, Kajima) and now demanding modest reparations and an apology.

And OPPOSED in their effort, tooth and nail, by an unholy alliance of the Japanese Foreign Ministry, the Japanese Embassy and Consulates in the United States, three recent former US ambassadors to Tokyo including one now on the payroll for Mitsubishi Corporation in D.C. to oppose the reparation, the Colin Powell-led US State Department and the rest of the Bush Administration including President Bush.

When the Lee Greenwood tunes ends, I am patriotic, but also roundly pissed off that our US government, Democrat and GOP administration alike, is ignoring the fading, last-ditch pleas from our US WWII POWs who were in slave labor Japan and who are being told to 'stuff it' in their sunset years for the sake of 'Nichibei Kankei' (US-Japan Relations).

The song was "God Bless the USA." It's a great song and tribute to a great nation. The POW's deserve all the respect we can give them. God bless them abundantly!

Thank you Norb2569 for pinging me to this.

This was indeed a great sight. Every USAF game is very patriotic, but these days it really means more just to be there to support our future military leaders. To see the POW group just brings a tear to the eye, and to watch them salute the cadets was just too much to take…

Thanks for the post. I have been to that stadium many times and can almost visualize what you witnessed. The POW's saluting the cadets in their blue uniforms had to be something you will never forget. The cadets will certainly remember!Too bad this was not televised.

I always enjoy watching the Army/Navy game, not so much the football but for the attendees. While other college games seem to be filled with painted up, shirtless kids drunk on their butts, the Army/Navy spectators are all grownup men and women dressed in their finest and conducting themselves like the ladies and gentlemen that they are. These folks have maturity beyone their years instilled in them by their respective academies .

Seems like you've got quite an axe to grind ... how do you stand on reparations paid to blacks for slavery?

How about those Europeans who worked as slaves during WWII for major coporations that still exist today?

I agree.

Also, a couple weeks ago Army was here and everything you said is true.

One of the fly-overs at the beginning of the AF-Army game was a flight of A-10's. (tank killers). This was a pretty good message from one academy to the other! All in good spirits.
