It's a strange new world since Sept. 11.
U.S. Special Forces ride horses into combat. Radio commentators say things like "...Uzbekistan, a strong ally of the United States..." as if it were a perfectly normal thing to say. B-52's fly in support of T-55 tank columns. The U.S. and Russia undertake partial nuclear disarmament without lenghthy negotiations or treatys....

Very, very cool.

In this environment "pretty is as pretty does"..
They want endurance, plenty of bone, and a steady nature in their mounts...
Save the "hotties" for the parade when they get home...

Can't you see these guys, 30 years from now at the VFW, telling the techie types that they took part in the last ever Cavelry charge......

YOU gotta see this one!! What does this remind you of? I'll bet special services have some former "farmers" in their midst.

......There are no whores in the White House, (which is one of the reasons the other statements are true.... )

Yes there is a difference. Special Forces are Green Berets while special ops is a special operation, comprising of a variety of different type troops. Special Forces, SEALS, Rangers and Delta types and Air Force elite. SEALS I doubt were involved in this spec ops, since they are normally used for water type operations. However, SEALS are a part of Delta.

Why not let Jim determine that. If he doesn't like it, he'll tell him.
In the mean time, if you don't like it ... just ignore it and don't let it get you all worked up.
Either way ... your call ... and his.

Dont feel bad about the criticisms. Ive said in the past to various people that I thought we should permanently have a few horsemen available for special needs, especially given how far man portable firepower has become, but was always laughed at. Seems that I get the last laugh...

This sort of national support for and enthusiasm over our military must be a really bitter pill for the Democrat party.

This thread reminds me of a guy whom I worked with whose brother was just finishing up his special forces training less than 2 years ago. The boys rope and their daddy is a KS order buyer. I can only imagine.... God bless

I want to see pix of airmen dumping bales of hay out of a C-130. I'm sure none of this was practiced stateside!

I see it ... wish I could be there. Looks like my kind of landscape ... though they'd need at least a little timber on some of those hills for me to be completely comfortable.
Great pics.

Think again. My father (now deceased) trained at Ft. Bliss where they had the last mounted calvary in the U.S. Army ca. 1942.
On another thread around here yesterday, someone posted info on a U.S. Army unit that actually fought on horseback in the Philippines during WWII.
