Damn, ain't that just like you. Shoot a beehive so you don't have anything left to carry to the morgue. Talk about a lazy individual.
Stay Safe !
I thought my smaller CCW piece would work better for her, but she doesn't like the heavy DA pull, and the recoil is harder due to the light weight and straight blowback action.
As for my 'house gun' I keep my Mossy 12 in the corner beside the dresser. She's not very comfortable shooting even target loads in it, and I've been looking for ways to reduce the recoil. What's your opinion of porting the 18" barrel? Would that help? Also, I saw a recoil-reducing buttstock made by Hogue (sp?) in a catalog the other day. It looks like a standard synthetic stock, but the pad is mounted on a spring-loaded apparatus that fists inside the stock. Kinda like a shock-absorber between your shoulder and the chamber. Seems like that would help. What do you think?
I have the tools I need, but being proficient and comfortable with them is just as important.
Take her out to drop some of those PC Quail/Dove that some call "sporting clay's"...trap.....skeet, etc etc with an unported scattergun then hand her the vang ported shotgun and measurable difference will be noted. Maybe even to the point you don't get your mossy back either :o)
Load stack sequence is 2 x #4 buck, 2 copper solid slugs, 2 x #00 Buck , the remaining load are copper soild slugs. The round down the spout is based on intel. Doe's your local "criminal" element have a trend of wearing kevlar undies ???? If so you won't punch it with a slug but you will bust enough ribs to stop em from breathing long enough to do a failure drill on em.
Stay Safe Pocat
Winchester 1300? Excellent choice..I have one and it's so much fun I almost feel ashamed whenever I shoot it.
As far as rifles are concerned, I personally prefer military styles or copies to the nice, beautifully checkered and balanced (and expensive as hell!) hunting types. The AR-15 is also a good choice, but is kinda pricey. I'd be just as happy with a Mini-14 by Ruger, or it's 7.62x39 counterpart, the Mini-30. Of course, if you want to go for the gusto, you can get all sorts of .30-caliber military rifles which are time and battle tested. 7.62 NATO ammo is pretty reasonable priced, too. Enjoy doing the research!
Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
You have the right attitude. The more we expect government to protect us, the more we will have to give up our freedoms for security. Each man is responsible for his or her own security. Had the citizens on those four hijacked planes not been disarmed by the cowardly likes of Sarah Brady et al, about 4500 American mommies and daddies would still be alive. That's how Gun Control KILLS.
This is why the explanatory clause of the Second Amendment says...
"...being necessary to the security of a FREE state..."
FReegards...
Carol Roberts is just my "handle". During the count of the 2000 presidential election I realized an opportunity to poke some fun at the real Carol Roberts - that red haired witch from Palm Beach.
