The federal investigation into the bioterrorism attack on America led to North Olden Avenue in Trenton yesterday, where authorities raided an apartment and detained a Pakistani man before testing the residence for anthrax.

Authorities also took swabs of a curbside mail drop box almost directly in front of the building, which they searched for about five hours. They confiscated several garbage bags of evidence.

"One (agent) just said, `If we find out you know about anthrax, we'll have to catch you and send you back to your country,' " Khan said. "I said prove it."

Out of the mouths of "bin Ladens"......

These guys don't sound like terrorists. Read about Atta and his friends and you'll find an underlying arrogance and complete lack of likability. I think this group happens to be living at the wrong place. My hunch is that the anthrax warriors are a moving target. I'll bet they're living at Econo lodges and in the back of their Ryder truck.

Just sitting here dumbfounded staring at these two addresses. Just cosmic coincidence that the two offices are right next to each other I suppose.

Cheeky b*****d, isn't he.

One of the other persons questioned, Ilyas Chaudhry, said "I'm sure they're not going to find anything."

He must've made sure the evidence was gone.

FBI agents asked Chaudhry what kind of schooling he received while growing up in his native country, inquired if he had ever worked in a laboratory and asked if he had any friends in Florida

Friends in Florida? Whatever could he mean by that?

Btw, just saw on another thread (re the suspicious incident at the Cambridge Galleria mall) that the Ryder van's licence plate was registered in Florida.

Where do the adresses on post #28 and post#8 fit in with your Waly Samar/Hunter College scenario?

Don't need the whole archive of articles here, just focus on the addresses.

"They're going after everybody, any Pakistanian," he said.

No Pakistani would ever say "Pakistanian". They call it "Pakistani"..

Thanks for letting me know about this thread, gumbo. It sure does have a lot of information.

Good point that the addresses for the accountants' office (where the Hamilton Square woman was infected) and the for Islamic Society's chairman's office are sequential. Anthrax spores could easily have been transferred via an unaware third party (for example a UPS or FedEx delivery person) to the woman's office.

On September 11th, one of my daughter's college classmates said she spoke by phone with her father, who said the attacks were being blamed on the PAKISTINIANS. We figured she meant Palestinians.

Now I wonder if the student didn't know something.

A local law enforcement source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said federal authorities are strictly enforcing immigration laws

What a concept.

I thought that was odd too. It could be the reporter's mistake. But if not, what do you think was going on there? Was the guy a fake Pakistani? Or was he pulling a fast one with the reporter?

I would lean towards it being the reporter's mistake. The other possible explanations don't really add up. For example, even if the guy is a fake Pakistani, as long as he's from the Indian Subcontinent or pretty much anywhere in the Arabic or Persian-speaking world, he'd still say Pakistani, and not Pakistanian. Frankly, I've never even heard Pakistanian. And as for pulling a fast one on the reporter, sure - but to what end? What would be the point? I am at a loss.. reporter mistake seems to be the only thing that makes sense, but if its not that, there's something very mysterious about this whole story.

Today's NY Daily News has more news that is apparently about this raid. One of the men in the apartment was carrying letters in a plastic bag when arrested. FBI Detains 3 Trenton Men - 1 carried letters in Ziploc bag.

Correction. Reading that Daily News article again, I see the guy was carrying the letters in the Ziploc bag not on Friday when arrested, but on Monday. So what happened to the letters, I wonder?
