Personally I think posts like yours are worthless. That's nothing personal, because you aren't the only one by far, but posting what you HEARD on a radio show to which most others do not have access, quoting a "talk-show host" (I assume) who could be credible, or could be a loony like Art Bell or Michael Savage, communicates no useful information.
For example, IS there a major bridge in Los Angeles? I thought L.A. had no harbor or port, no major ravines, hence no place for a "signature bridge" (as we call it in the bridge business).
Anyway, there's lots of info running around out there. 99% of it is bullsh*t. I'd think long and hard about adding to that manure pile.
Um, think again. The Port of L.A. is one of the largest in the country. The city limits incorporate a narrow strip from central LA that runs all the way down to the water just to include it.
I for one find these types of posts a real attraction to checking out FR. It seems local news snippets show up here before they hit the nat'l press. Then there is BS too, so you just take it with a grain of salt. Who knows....
Given them credit for innovation ... which is itself frightening.
Long Beach (technically) isn't LA, but it IS one of the busiest ports in the nation. That a single bridge isn't there with the visual impact of the WTC or Golden Gate doesn't matter....losing one (or more) highway/railway overpasses out of there would hurt the economy more that the loss of the WTC.
Also ... why "not" one or more LA freeway overpasses? They are bigger than anything in Afghanistan, and if it's attention you're seeking, what better tplace than LA?
From suitcase nukes, to dirty nukes, to car bombs, to smallpox, to cropdusters, to you name it. Sheesh folks, get a grip.
I agree with Ollie North, if they would've had anything more potent than crashing airplanes into buildings, they would've done it by now.
So if this press conference did happen (do we have independent confirmation of that, anyone?) then it isn't the rantings of some loony. (Wait. Davis is loony, but in a different way.)
Tom Sullivan is a radio host in Sacramento, by the way. He does a daytime show, so he's not loony enough to be put on the overnight shift.
And there is a bridge in LA, as others have pointed out.
Would dropping it harm shipping into and out of the Long Beach and LA ports?
Certainly going after the Bay Area bridges is an obvious possibility.
Hey!!!!....I resemble that remark!...Sometimes we need the obvious to make a point...What say ye?

There is a very large Bridge in Long Beach, ( LA ) which spans the Los Angeles Harbor. Which, in itself, has been a major concern for an attack. If the bridge comes down, it will disrupt a tremendous amount of commerce on the west coast. This would further bin ladens real goal of disrupting our economy!!!
Likewise Illbay. Just because you've been around here a while doesn't mean you own the place.
Keep posting evilsmoker! Fair and balanced...let us decide.
Between LA and Long Beach it's the biggest port on the West Coast.
I remember a posting some years back about a guy on a sightseeing tour in Arizona - bus stopped at some historical monument and he noticed two Chinese looking types weren't interested in history - they had wandered over to a railroad bridge that went over a major east-west interstate - and were photographing the supports and under-structure.
We have lots of enemys - and we're vulnerable. Eagles Up!!
What? FYI, LA has one of the largest ports in the world. And its helped make California the 5th largest economy on the globe.
Minor details.
