Talk show host Tom Sullivan just reported that during a press conference Gov. Davis said he was notified that there is evidence that terrorists plan to target the Coronado Bridge (San Diego), the Golden Gate & Bay Bridges (San Francisco) and an LA Bridge (didn't catch the name) tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 2nd.

It isn't called the "LA Basin" for nothing--it's a big flat area nestled against the Santa Monica and San Bernadino Mountain ranges.

If it was a some kooky talk show host, I wouldn't have posted it.
To: Gumlegs
there is also a bridge into Pasadena, Yeah, suicide bridge.
That's the only one I could think of. It's old and historic in that way. I think it is still closed to traffic, but am not sure.
I guess there is some bridge near Long Beach.

Well if this information is accurate stopping an attack should be relatively easy. Right?

Seems to me they'd target the Los Angeles freeway system (one that has a few overpasses one over the other) rather than the LA bridge.

There is a bridge to Terminal Island in the Long Beach, Los Angeles Harbour.

We have a bridge in LA? Some of those big freeway interchanges might be considered bridges. Two or three major freeways could be disabled at one time if a major interchange bombed out of comission. Too awful to contemplate. Traffic is in a permanent stall already.
Golden Gate Bridge, with it's twin towers, would be a likely target. It's the #1 tourist attraction in the USA, highly symbolic for that reason. Suicide bombers could blow themselves up in a truck full of explosives midspan and perhaps bring it down. But I'm sure it's under heavy guard 24/7.

Ok. So, Davis is to be believed. Like he would not lie. Like he is a forth coming and honest individual. Like he cares that someone in his state gets hurt. If there is a buck in it for him, blowing up a bridge, he'll probably give a CHiPs escort to the bridge.
To: Illbay
You thought, that is the problem. There is a LA Harbor, but it is really in Long Beach and there is a large bridge over it.

Very funny!!!!

bin Laden's last view of the world on his way to Terminal Island?
To: Illbay
I thought L.A. had no harbor or port,... Um, think again. The Port of L.A. is one of the largest in the country. The city limits incorporate a narrow strip from central LA that runs all the way down to the water just to include it.

We have a bridge in LA? News to me!I believe its the one Klintoon kept babbling on and on about for the last 8 years..

Just the bridges in CA??? Anyone hear anything about the 7 mile bridge in the Keys??? That would absolutely cut us off from EVERYTHING!!! Our government here doesn't have enough sense to pay attention to any warnings!!! Sorry if there are typo's ... bird eating my ear at the moment ... can't put my glasses on :(

"Seems to me they'd target the Los Angeles freeway system (one that has a few overpasses one over the other) rather than the LA bridge." Naw, the traffic is so slow that the terrorists could never get to it.
And no one would realize that the roads were closed, either.

Maye you should relax.
I for one find these types of posts a real attraction to checking out FR. It seems local news snippets show up here before they hit the nat'l press. Then there is BS too, so you just take it with a grain of salt. Who knows....
