The media has seemed to suppress this (how many poor souls that felt compelled to jump from the burning towers) for whatever reason.
I, for one, would like to be armed with some sort of number who leaped to their certain deaths. I have a feeling, due to the "Vietnamization" taking place now, that this tidbit of data might come in handy.......right about the time some clown gets my '5 across the lips'.
Anybody have an idea as to the numbers involved here? Thanks in advance.
There has been a great deal of myth surrounding his death, but (I believe) the general conclusion was that he was hit in the head by debris.
It is touching and I know exactly what you mean.
That day is definitely etched in all our minds.
I lost 3 friends in the WTC Towers, and want revenge for them and their families, not justice.
There is no such place. Practically all of the 9/11 photos and videos, the ones that show the true carnage on the ground, have been suppressed. Not by the government, but by the news media, who think we mere citizens are unable to handle them. These pictures of people in mid-jump are nothing in comparison to what you're not allowed to see.
By the way, at least one of the jumpers survived the jump, temporarily. At some point while the towers were still up, possibly before the second plane hit, there was a guy doing triage on the ground tagging people the way it's always done during disasters: green for people that need treatment but can afford to wait, red for people that need immediate attention to survive, yellow for people that can wait but must be monitored for possible worsening, black for the hopeless cases that must be left to die, etc. Well, he came across a woman who was basically a puddle of goo from the mid-chest down:
Ernest Armstead, a 30-year emergency medical specialist veteran of the fire department, almost seems to be pleading to make his psychic pain go away. That is only one story of the early moments of 9/11, the most photographed and videotaped event in all of history. You will never see photos or video of the truly horrific events of the day. The news media has decided for you.He recalls his nightmarish experience: As he placed triage tags on fallen victims in the plaza, a woman -- with only her head and right torso intact -- spoke to him.
"I am not dead," she said evenly. He placed a black tag, meaning dead or terminal, around her neck. "I am not dead!" she yelled.
And he lied to her: "We will be right back to you."
Make that 1000 to 100,000X revenge, and I'm with you.
They will still blame America.
I saw a documentary yesterday night, and I heard some eye witnesses say they could hear the sound of a body smacking to the ground nearly every second. God, that's horrible.
I also saw some footage of a man right below the plane's impact, who actually wanted to safe his own life by climbing out of the building to a lower floor..
But he lost his grip.. It horrifies me when I try to imagine what he must have been feeling as he felt himself slipping away...
When I was working at 2 WTC in '84-'85, the State of New York had offices in the middle third of the building (44 to 78?). I was on the 89th floor (Ebasco).
>yes, that is true about Father Michal Judge. He was giving the last rites to someone, when a jumper fell on him.<
Sorry, but that's myth. He was killed by falling debris inside the lobby of one of the towers after he had given last rites to a firefighter who had been killed by a jumper.
Heart attack?
No, I understand a juimper did land directly on him while he was helping a victim, killing him immediately.
If you recall the documentary that the two French brothers made during the attack on 911. One of the brothers was filming inside one of the buildings, the priest was with them at that time. As the second tower went down everyone ran for cover. The cameras were still running and everything went black. As it began to get light again, the firefighters were attemptig to give the Fr. CPR to no avail.
I have also wondered how many children were killed on 9-11. I know there were some on the planes. Little was ever mentioned about the children. It seems as though the politics of the whole event has overshadowed the victims. I also think that many Americans are in denial that our nation is vulnerable, and fear prevents them from wanting to know the details of that horrible day. They think that if we don't talk about it that it really didn't/couldn't happen.
The French documentary "9-11" was very, very well done. I urge everyone to see it. Netflix has it.
I heard it reported several places that he was killed when hit by a jumper.
No day care facilities at the Trade Center and not likely that any kids were having a power breakfast at Windows. There may have been kids on the planes but I don't recall ever hearing their names called or their pictures shown at any of the roll calls of the dead.
No one has written in 6 years on this. It’s an atrocity that 20 lives, 5 lives or even 1 live couldn’t be saved from a helicopter going to the North Tower. The South Tower may not have been accessible but there was a corner of the North Tower that was.
Those damn doors should’ve remained unlocked and the damn fire department shouldn’t have had a problem with the police rescuing 28 people from the rooftop in the 93 bombing. Who cares if it was spectacular?
New York needs to grow balls and be prepared to rescue people on the high floors of skyscrapers like Los Angeles- otherwise don’t build skyscrapers.
I would’ve definitely gone to the roof if I was on the upper floors.
