I carried the Washington State flag that I borrowed from a local high school.

My son carried the NY flag at the beginning of the March. Our flag now flies on our back porch, the view from which is the mighty Hudson. V's wife.

I am sitting at my desk AT WORK wearing my MFJ T-shirt, and event staff hat! It's patriotic dress-up day for Halloween!

My t-shirt has the date on it "October 31, 1998" and I am wearing the following pins:

Dangling from the snap closure on the back of the ball cap is an Inaugural luggage tag from the Michigan Republican party.

What a day that was 3 years ago. Meeting people in person for the first time, and feeling as though I'd known them forever.

MFJ was an incredible weekend. I had the time of my life!

I'll never forget checking in, getting my key, and finding several people standing outside my door.... with "Trixie" actually leaning on it. Turns out, I have Mr. Jim Robinson as my next door neighbor!

I will never forget that Saturday night after the dinner, when 3 almost-strangers and I found a cabbie to take us to Ft. Marcy Park at midnight. Of course, the park closes at dusk, and we weren't sure we had a way back home, but we found 'the spot', took pics and took rocks *lol*.... Which, coupled with the fact three of us were about to run & jump the guardrail, caused added suspicion from the unlucky cop who had to deal with 'mo' that night. (I can still see him scratching his head!!)

Your post jogged my memory. I'm just glad you made it to the march.

I'd never seen anything like it -- a protest by thousands of conservatives against a leftist President.

I was there with two good friends and a sign that said "The Clinton Administration is a Criminal Organization" on one side, and "Zip Up And Get Out!" on the other. A newsbabe from an Italian TV station put a mic under my nose and said "But isn't this really just all about a private affair?" Still a relatively new freeper, I sputtered a bit putting together a reply about why having a felon as President is a bad idea.

At one point, a moon-faced idiot wandered by mumbling, and occasionally shouting, insults and obscenities at the protestors. I went over and snarled at him, and he went somewhere else. It was my first encounter with "Eschoir"...

The speeches were inspiring, and the feeling was electric. We left feeling we had done a good day's work; that we had been a part of something important.

But what I remember best is that we arrived early -- only 30 or 40 people were there -- and I wondered if we would have any kind of support at all. Then, here they came, from all points of the compass, first dozens, then hundreds, then more. Energetic, cheerful, happy to have a chance to actually do something about socialism and corruption. Thousands of friends I had never met.

I knew then, quite clearly, that things were never going to be the same.

There was such a feeling of comraderie from that first evening, as different states hung their flag from the balcony.

I remember Texas Chip on his cellphone, constantly in touch with the New England Freepers who were driving to DC in a caravan. When he gave the word, we all poured out into the street to wave them through....

I was there with several Freeper friends who came from far and wide to stay at my home.

I had the honor of accompanying Mr. Jim Robinson for the day and marching with him in the opening ceremony. It was a day I shall remember always!

Me, my father and my best friend, Diana went. Diana flew earlier and met up with my Father who was all ready there. My flight from San Diego was a red eye. For some reason, after we boarded the flight, it was cancelled! If I didn't leave that evening, I would miss the flight! Of course, eveyone else was distraught. There was alot of confusion, if you can imagine. I approached a very friendly looking flight attendant and explained my situation. I told her that I was attending a march in Washington and if I didn't get on a flight, it wouldn't even make sense to go. She asked me what the March was for. I told her we were marching for the impeachment of Bill Clinton. She took my hand and escorted me to the desk of the only other airline who had a flight out that evening. She took me to the front of the line, whispered something to the ticket woman, and I made it to the March.

The airlines aren't all bad.

Appropos of nothing, the flight attendant was African American.

I still have a collection of Post it notes left by Halloween Night Freepers on the Ft Marcy Park cannons. I found them the next morning on a guided tour of the Vince Foster site.

heheh Glad you found those post-it notes! We didn't think anyone would believe us, so we left them all over that cannon!

I was there in spirit only.
I had been a very casual lurker until I caught Connie on Rush's show promoting the MFJ.
I watched the report on C-SPAN....started lurking more often and became addicted. : )

Got so angry after the Senate let us down that I registered so I could gripe with the rest of you.
One of the few regrets in my life is missing the MFJ.

Yep, it was a fine day. Met One Who Knows, Betty Boop, Sam Adams, A Navy Vet, a whole host of others, got to shake Mr. Robinson's hand and say thanks, and got a great big hug from CAL. Lot's of vet's used my "Clinton, unwilling to serve, unfit to lead." sign for their photos. Made me very proud to meet so many and to thank them for their service.

It was certainly entertaining to try and keep track of Sam adams, et al, in their journey south!

I got home just in time to carve Jack-O-Lanterns and run the kiddies through the neighborhood. After having lived and worked in the D.C. area for fifteen years prior, I can't begin to tell you what a cleansing effect the day brought for me.

I've got tape of CNN coverage of the day. I want to get digital capture of some of the better segments, and if I can, I'll post 'em.

After posting I had to go to the closet and pull out my well- worn FreeRepublic.com, black with checkered trim, polo shirt to wear today. Looks like I need to do a little FReeep shopping!

I wasn't there, but I was lurking occasionally back then. I remember seeing LD Brown on there, that's what got me to pay more attention to this site.

I'll never forget the Mena case.
