Am I the only one who heard Sean Hannity, at about 5:40PM EST, stop while on the air and say: "So that's what Ashcroft's warning is. It's a dirty bomb."

>I expect a 'dirty bomb' incident within the next 72 hours
So do I, I'm afraid, and I live in NYC. Worse, so do my kids.
We need to kill these people. If this thing goes off, we need to end the war with all of our enemies in a day.

Not really all that long. Most likely no longer than a radioactive half-life of a mere 30,000 years.
Yeah, but it depends on what and how much ground is exposed. As long as it doesn't seep into the water table, it's possible to remove the ground and bury it elsewhere.

"My husband says it's a Nuclear Bomb with alot of fall-out, I'm sorry to tell you." No! It is not a nuclear explosion. It is a conventional explosion with nuclear material attached. The conventional explosion is intended to disperse the radioactive material over a large area. Radioactive contamination is the intent, not to blow down buildings and such. Potassium iodide is an antidote for radiation poisoning. (I have learned most of this from fellow FReepers)

You could expect it anywhere. Almost any place in the US would be a strategic hit for one of these. I-35 up to Kansas City would wipe out Millions and (from what everyone says) Ruin a large portion of the US agriculture with it./

and then across the Mexican border into the US. So then where, LA, Denver, Vegas? Where do you make a big splash without dragging it across the whole country?

I'm thinking a lot of 3rd world despots have to be contemplating what the reaction will be for them, and I can tell them it will be measured in megatons. If they have any way at all to stop this, they can be a hero -- at least for awhile. If not, we can settle all scores at once.

Another possibility is California's Silicon Valley, near Intel's main chip-manufactoring facility.
Radiation will ruin sensitive semiconductors, so contaminating the area will make semiconductor manufactoring impossible in the area for a while, plus ruining some of the most expensive real estate in America

Who do we thank again for NAFTA? I think we should drive this point home.

Such a weapon would of necessity weigh a great deal and would not be intended as a small poisoning potential, hence, such a weapon would likely be transported and detonated from a boat or barge, or from a tractor-trailer box transport (shipping container). Large trucks should be prohibited from any route within ten miles of any major downtown, immediately.
