Just reported on Imus in the Morning. A man was arrested at an airport (I didn't catch which one, maybe Pittsburg) with a box cutter hidden in his lap top computer.
The man had an expired student visa.

FBI is also at IU in Bloomington. I think they are checking everywhere and the media is too busy running anthrax stories to pay attention.
I think that's actually the best thing to have happen. Let all the media attention be focused on other stuff while some real work gets done. One thing to note about student visas, however, is that the colleges have nothing to do with granting them. That is entirely an INS deal. When a foreign student applies to a college, the college only looks at whether to accept or deny the college application. The INS is responsible for deciding whether to grant the visa and let the student into the country. Colleges are then supposed to let the INS know whether someone with a student visa actually shows up to the school to attend.

Absolutely. Acutally, we should herd as many professors as possible on "sabbatical" in military camps so their idealism will be a little more tempered.
Only if I get to be acting D.I. and get in their faces like I see in the movies.

Atta's note to future hijackers: When attempting to hide boxcutters for entry onto aircraft, we discovered that hiding them rectally is not one of our more brilliant ideas.

Personally I think the FBI should begin by going into every college and checking "student visas". If you don't have it your out on the next jet back to where you came from. This includes professors also. The problem with that plan is you won't find any of the terrorists that are here on a student visa in college.

I was searched, exactly one week before the attacks, coming off a plane in Philadelphia. They even turned on my laptop.

He was a twenty one year old Lebanese man on an expired student visa. I heard that the police were surprised it wasn't a Swedish blonde carrying a box knife. Apparently the authorities and the ACLU are all embarrassed for the fellow to have so reinforced a stereotype.

County police said they did not know why the man had the box cutter. Why not? I say the County Police are not doing their job. If this is a war why dont we act like we are in a war? A proper interrogation could determine why he had a hidden box cutter.

Personally I think the FBI should begin by going into every college and checking "student visas". That sounds easy enough, but the ones with expired visas are probably no longer at the college. If they are no longer there, many probably have changed their identities, addresses, etc. FWIW, they very well may be already doing what you think they should be doing, but nothing is as ever as easy as it seems.

I saw it, it was a fairly long thread about someone a freeper talked to at a rally who said something along the lines of wait till monday there will be a pole shift, inferring that the anti war movement will be lessened...I wonder if that is because the National Enquirer or Us News & World Report are supposed to hit the stands ?

...being allowed to exist without impunity. Oops! You meant to say "...with impunity..."?

Perhaps this
was "caught" at the main security point, but the perp was allowed to pass to see if he'd meet up with accomplices?
Just a thought.

We need to expel all who are not citizens and close our borders until this mess is cleared up. I don't care what their occupation is.
Use the National Guard, all of them if necessary, to guard our borders.
It is time to stop dragging our feet and get out there and kick butt.

I haven't heard anything about increased checking for illegals.
ALL illegals OUT of the USA now!

Suicide missions are by definition STUPID; it is a pretty stupid plan to kill yourself. After all, the winners(who LIVE) write the history books. Those who live also make love with the women (even if they aren't all virgins)!THe poor dumb , young men are being used by cynical, vicous,EVIL, men to further schemes of conquest. I doubt that a good God wants his people committing murders/suicides in his name.
