The building (National Postal Equipment Repair Facility) had recieved equipment from five postal facilities that had been contaminated with anthrax on the East Coast.
The decision to evacuate the building (at the Forbes Industrial Park in Topeka, Kansas) came after seven employees called the health agency Tuesday morning reporting flu-like symptoms. An eighth person who works as a postal worker in Topeka reported similar symptoms.
The health agency responded by taking nasal swabs from each employee for testing by the Kansas Department of Health and Enviornment.

The web-I just posted the Channel 5 article above as 'Front Page News', I guess nothing is 'breaking news' until the tests come back positive.
This is the National Repair Service for the Post Office and the union guys in Flordia and New York considering walking out so I thought it might be relevant.

I've been trying to wean myself from FreeRepublic...and I'm not doing a very good job of it...

They should just stop the darn mail! Or maybe they don't mind sacrificing a few civilian (or public servant) lives to follow whatever trail to the bad guys they hope to find?!@#$? This is ridiculous. And they say OUR mail is okay. HA!

God bless go to your doctor and get Cipro if you were at Forbes Air Base today, what time did you leave?

"Give all postal workers anthrax vaccine NOW"
I recall seeing posts here that said many service men/women retired INSTEAD of being forced to get an anthrax vaccine - it might have some nasty side effects....yeah, yeah...I know the alternative, too.
To: goodnesswins
Anthrax vaccinations? Hell, try calling your doctor to get a smallpox vaccination now. They won't and can't get it for you. Some preparedness program we have going now.
To: FreedomFarmer
Chances are tiny, tiny, tiny, tiny. But if the results are positive for this site, I'd tell your doc to put you on preventitive treatment. G*d bless.

Thanks, Libertina...nice to see you too....one of the reasons I'm addicted is this place has so many great people. Wish I had gone to the Seattle Rally last week. Then I could have REALLY seen you, again.

There are adequate vaccination for the military (and postal workers) right now. There have never been any side effects reported, although there is certainly a rare potential. But one must weigh risk/reward. Certainly driving in a car is many thousands or millions of times more dangerous.

If New York postal workers and the Florida boys go on strike, is a national action out of the question?

I think the WW I epidemic started at Ft. Riley. My great grandfather died in that flu epidemic. I think it went all the way around the world - I forget the figures. Hundreds of thousands died, I think.

Totally agree, damn I got folks back there!

Go to the doctor and get yourself tested -- tomorrow if not tonight. No need to sit around and wonder.

Am starting to wonder about our mail. . Well that makes two of us! It is clear to me that these guys could contaminate our mail simply by mailing each other letters from NY/NJ to points south and west. Maybe they already have and day by day we are seeing the effects of what they have done. Several letters to the media, several letters to the Senate and Congress... and others to each other just to contaminate. It's a thought! |
