I did a search and didn't see this article. If it's been posted before, I apologize. But I commend him for being so honest. I've often wondered whether or not the American Muslim community leaders were ever truly "outraged" by what happened to us. Well, If you have a chance, please visit his website. He has stuff published on here before!!

I appreciate his statements, however, I've yet to see any local arab muslims reach out to my community. They operate businesses and take our money but it's rare to see them interacting with Americans in any other situation. The silence of the very large arab muslim community is frightening. I find myself wondering if they were silently celebrating the deaths of innocent people on September 11th. Finding out that a local man, Herndon VA, was questioned by the FBI for delivering special batteries to the mass murderer, Osama, adds to the suspicion. They need to assimilate with non-muslims and learn to be respectful of other people.

How can the message of Muhammad (pbuh) who was sent as mercy to mankind become a source of horror and fear? How can Islam inspire thousands of youth to dedicate their lives to killing others? We are supposed to invite people to Islam not murder them.

As far as I have learned in recent weeks, the prophet Mohammed was a murdering military conquerer and a rapist. Correct me if I am wrong about that.

I am not a Christian, but I don't recall Jesus taking captives by force, spreading his word by the sword, and forcing women into his bed.

When President Bush called Islam a great religion he wasn't saying it was a true religion, only that it was a big one and that it was generally peaceful.

A coupla items....all true....

NYPD cops guarding mosques in the city are totally ignored by the muslims they are guarding, no offers of a drink, to use the facilities, a simple hello or thank you

On LI an eigth grade teacher asked her class how this was being handled in the home. Some schoolmates had lost parents. A 13 year old muslim said that his family was "celebrating". This was @9/13. The kid has not been back to school yet.

Last week on Queens Blvd in Forest Hills, Queens the NYPD chased a car that ran a light. The two Afgan occupants were taken into custody after a small arsenal, multiple IDs and detailed info on bridges and tunnels were found in the car. They were taken to the pct. house on Austin Street where the FBI collected them.

All true...none made the news

Does anybody know whether the fellow who wrote this is the Billy Graham type of Muslim or the John Shelby Spong type of Muslim? I didn't see a lot of references to the Koran; might this perhaps mean that at its core, Islam is vicious and murderous, but that it can be to some extent modernized and socialized by liberal Islamic theologians to the point where fewer people get killed, as long as nobody really reads the Koran itself?

While encouraging Muslims to struggle against injustice (Al Quran 4:135), Allah also imposes strict rules of engagement. He says in unequivocal terms that to kill an innocent being is like killing entire humanity (Al Quran 5:32). He also encourages Muslims to forgive Jews and Christians if they have committed injustices against us (Al Quran 2:109, 3:159, 5:85).

I think these 'examples that the author provided are misleading....for one, how does the Quran define an "innocent"? The so-called "unbeleivers" in the Quran are not "innocent". As a matter of fact, there is a passage with says that the "unbelievers" are the "vilest of animals" and that Allah would have made them able to see and hear (the word of Allah) except that he didn't 'give' that 'gift' to them because they are evil.

From the Quran:

Surah III
151. For we will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve.

Surah IV
89. If they turn back, seize them and kill them wherever you find them.

Surah V
Do not take the Jews and Christians for friends, they are friends of each other....

Surah IX
5. So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush

The point however is this – our belief in Islam and commitment to Islamic values is not contingent on the moral conduct of the US or Israel. And as Muslims can we condone such inhuman and senseless waste of life in the name of Islam?

Refreshing to say the least.

As far as this being a repost, so be it...I didn't catch it earlier, so how would I know about it?...I can't do a search on "Posts that nothingnew hasn't read", can I?

Thanks fer the post.

"As an Indian Muslim, I know for sure that nowhere on earth, including India, will I get the same sense of dignity and respect that I have received in the US. No Muslim country will treat me as well as the US has.

Bears repeating.

"[I]n the US, bigotry and xenophobia has been kept in check by media and leaders."

Wrong. In the US, bigotry and xenophobia have been kept in check by Americans themselves. They--not their leaders, and certainly not the media--deserve the praise.

This article should be translated and distributed throughout the Muslim world. It'd be interesting to see what they'd make of it.
