Hey no-meat-eaters-on-Fridays-during-Lent!
There are a ton of us Catholic Freepers out there, this is our little thread in the big big world. This is just my way of attempting to get to know people just like me.
A few links I enjoy:
www.vatican.va - the Holiest Web Site on Earth
www.scripturecatholic.com - providing Scripture references to support the teachings of the faith
And lastly, I post a joke I once heard on Free Republic:
What is the difference between a Catholic and a Protestant? Catholics wave to each other in the liqour store.
The Neverending Story Thread
Poland: Still the World's Most Catholic Country
Canadian Cable TV offers homosexual channel, not EWTN
Search recent Catholic Freeper posts
Search recent posts about our Holy Father
Nobody's perfect, man.

I think a thread for this purpose is a great idea. There's no reason not to include non-Catholics, although their strategies may differ from ours.
I think the key is to first address the issue of abortion from the aspect of healing. I am sure that most pastors are reluctant to address the issue because abortion has touched so many lives.
So I think any talk from the pulpit must first address repentence and forgiveness, and also lay out sacramental and pastoral methods of healing.
From there, I think we can move on to the right to life. Take a look at the way abortion is addressed at this CPC.
Best offer I've had all day. Oremus pro invicem.
We are going to Monterey/Carmel today. Might visit the mission and Fr. Serra, will recommend all Freepers to him. He understands, after all, all Freepers are missionaries of a sort.
I'm very impressed that you persevered. I don't think your experience is unique.
Hey, how come no one told me about the secret handshake?
I just went thru RCIA last year with the wife. She was chock full of (very insightful) questions, which I, not being a doctor of Canon law, was unable to answer.
(Seriously man, she asked some tough questions!)
After you learn the entire Ordinary of the Mass in Latin, we will teach you.
fone has no Y chromosomes
Yes. That was me. She's an ex-Catholic. Ex-Catholics in general can be pretty tough. Sometimes there's a pschological rather than a theological reason for becoming an ex-Catholic. She claims to have theological objections, so I take her at her word.
I try to be as polite as possible, even when the rhetoric gets turned up. We can say as much by our manners as by our arguments.
Also, I always remember that I'm talking to the lurkers as much as the person I'm debating. So they may have the same questions, but are afraid to voice them. I don't mind dealing with pointed questions head-on. No one's going to bring up these issues in polite company, so I regard the web as an invaluable evangelical tool.
I know someone who met him in Rome and was very impressed. Where is he now?
Anyway, she decides to go RC (post-marriage).
Our RCIA was, on the balance, pretty good. But we did have a couple of flakey types (including, God forgive me, a seminarian who was just SO eager, I mean that boy was INtense to the point of freaking you out. I do so hope he mellows a bit in seminary.)
Wow. Very cool. Don't they get it? We don't want touchy-feely. We want to be treated like adults!
The kumbaya crop of priests is slowly dying out. And the orthodox priests are coming. We can only hope.
I was taught by Benedictines, but I ended up Catholic anyway. ;)
Oh sure, bring THAT up.

sorry about the chromosome thing, but after all, the screen name is not exactly gender specific.
Da**it, Fone, I'm a doctor not a mind reader!
Actually, I'm not a doctor either... but I am a Star Trek fan! And I did stay in a Holiday Inn Express!
I'm being ordained a Deacon next year, please pray for me.
