I'd like to think that it was through the freepin efforts of the the early members of Free Republic that Fox News became available on local cable outlets.....
To: ODDITHER
I found it through Drudge too. Those were the days, the Clinton scandals were a lot of fun. Good times.

I first found Free Republic through Drudge Report.Me too, but I think I heard about Drudge on C-span.

One Who Knows??? OWK???? LOL!!!!!
Deb's still around. The rest are at lucianne.com filling the roll of "self appointed post police that would tear you a new one, if you didn't hold your mouth just right."!

You mean like this one?
I don't know, I think it goes in waves. It seems like Freepers get upset and began to start yellin at each other when times are tough for conservatives. Like during the election. It also seems like Freepers come and go. You have a wave of flamers and then they get tired or banned and leave. Then you have a wave of Self-righteous religious Freepers (that is one thing I have learned, freepers should never discuss religion. We are a pretty like-minded bunch until a religion thread starts up.)
All in all, the core freepers who have learned to roll with the punches and avoid the hit and run threads, and have stuck around through all the Post Patrols and trashers, have quite a bit to say.

Oh dear. I'd like everyone to forget I was here then. I had never been in any kind of forum group before FR, had only used the 'puter for research. I'm sure I did everything wrong. I wonder what ever happened to Don Morgan?

I remember going to New Jersey after reading about it on FreeRepublic and watching it at my daughter's. I couldn't wait to get it in Wisconsin. Some areas here still don't have Fox.

Does anyone else remember freepin back then?Yes, and I remember the various subtexts, covert agendas, disrupter alerts, long, rambling "good bye forever" posts, and the vicious internecine wars that were characteristic of that early period too.
Hey, wait a minute! Guess the "good old days" are still with us today in a certain sense. Regards,

For example, you can

Yea, the way I said it came out wrong. I guess with more volume you get more goofy stuff. On the other hand, now I'm thinking of Jose Ortega Gasset's The Revolt of the Masses

Hmmm... what ever happened to those guys? ;^]
Pretty much what they deserved. :)

...but I wrote an email to Drudge and asked him to change the link from WhiteWater...to Free Republic.Remember when we had our own WhiteWater link?

I lurked in late 1998 and posted in mid 1999, mostly on the Mena threads.
And I still haven't forgotten about Mena.
To: OWK
What ever happened to Chanel? Sometimes she would post some great stuff, and then at other times she seemed like a bad episode of X-files.

I wonder what ever happened to Don Morgan? His home page is still around, as he was never permanently banned. So is Mojo's, I think.
Last I heard, Don Morgan was running for some sort of local Republican Party position in his area.
To: B Knotts; Deb
I remember lots of flame-wars between DonMorgan, Mojo, Navigator, Deb, OneWhoKnows, and others. I remember falling in love for the very phirst time.

I remember when there were fewer than a dozen FReepers in Missouri - now there are nearly 150 on the "locale" page and the total membership has gone from 5,000 to 70,000. Thanks to JimRob and John, constant improvements have been made to FR and they deserve a big thank you from all of us. God bless JimRob and family.

This may sound hypcritical, but does it seem like there are more mindless posts? Less discussion and more blather? Gee. Ya think?? Laffin' here. The gates to the city were left open during the election and the barbarians invaded. ;-)

Who was it that used to post the Ash Alerts (complete with the country-western song - "Were you born an @$$hole")?
To: OWK; Daus; Billie; beowolf; wattsmag2; Vinnie; Freedom'sWorthIt; COB1; William Terrell...
"I remember lots of flame-wars between DonMorgan, Mojo, Navigator, Deb, OneWhoKnows, and others." Ah, OneWhoKnows....such wonderful times!!
Brought fond memories of December 1998/January 1999 and the "Infamous Mojo/LadyX Happening" - need I say more??...:)))) LOLOL!!
Yes - it used to be in 1997-98 that when you posted a reply and went to the kitchen for sustenance, it would still be on the Latest Posts when you returned!
Remember when we thought it astonishing that we had 3,000 registered posters?
