Statesmen may plan and speculate for liberty, but it is religion and morality alone which can establish the principles upon which freedom can securely stand. The only foundation of a free constitution is pure virtue. - John Adams |
Ok, I'll bite, who are merely the saved and what are they saved from?

I think a case could be made for this.
Sarah had only one child, as I recall.
Clever of you, ksen. That's not what I said but you word it in such a way that I am pressured to reply in defense. What passes as tongues in many cases is the same as what passes for claimed powers of healing, which I have never seen or experienced.
Allow me this witness before God and everybody, I have spoken in a language that I could hear myself speaking, recognized as a language that does not exist on earth while being filled with a power which I cannot describe for its utter love, peace and joy, the experience of which changed my life from 1976 until this day. And this is not the only experience I have had with this power. Many today have had the same experience. If you have not there is only one reason, you do not believe it.
lol. I guess that leave Mary out of the loop.
And the ark of the covenant was made of gold.
I have done all these things you say are not believable. Am I a liar?
You've got my curiosity going here. Do you know the meaning of what you were saying? How do you know that what you said could not be recognized as one of those existing on earth?

I seem to recall you guys providing it about 500 years after Christ. Quit blaming him for stuff.
It seems like only yesterday you were so proud of the fact you knew nothing except Scripture and Christ Crucified. Now you're giving history lessons? :-)

Once you have accepted Christ as your Lord and Saviour you accept His sacrifice for you. You are clean.
Yes, until you do something to make yourself unclean.
Heb 10:26-29. If, after we have been given knowledge of the truth, we should deliberately commit any sins, there is no longer any sacrifice for them. There will be only the dreadful prospect of judgement and of the raging fire that will burn rebels. Anyone who disregards the Law of Moses is ruthlessly put to death on the word of two witnesses or three, and you may be sure that anyone who tramples on the Son of God and who treats the blood of the covenant which sanctified him as if it were not holy, and who insults the spirit of grace, will be condemned to a far severer punishment.

Havoc my friend, this looks close to what you are saying.

I think that's beautiful. I don't agree with it, but it is beautiful.
Does the communion wafer taste like flesh and the wine taste like blood? I'm asking this seriously.
The reason "it is not clear" is very simple. There are no punctuation marks in early Greek. No manuscript would have any indication how we should read that verse ( "his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Clopas" or "his mother's sister Mary, the wife of Clopas")
I love those people who essentially believe that the Greek was translated from the original KJV ("hey there's a comma here in English, I'll build my doctrine on that")
Sorry, I really wasn't trying to trap you. I just assumed that when you said that you had spoken in tongues that you meant the kind that you would hear in a Pentecostal/Assembly of God church today. I shouldn't have assumed that.
I am not trying to say that you didn't experience what you said you experienced, but I am curious, is there Scriptural support for what you say occured to you?
Thanks.

Just FYI, this is debated even in Pentecostal circles. In the AoG, there is much debate over whether or not these are controllable or uncontrollable. There hasn't been a concensus reached (though I fall in the controlled camp). I have experienced many phenomena, including "slain in the spirit," tongues, etc. At no point was I not in control (IMO). I made a conscious decision at each step to surrender my will to God and had the option at any point to remove myself from the experience. This is just FWIW.
Matthew 12
24 But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.
31 Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.
32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
