Ok, I give up. How? LOL. I can't find any of your philosophies in there or your traditions. And I sure can't find the words Catholic, Pope, Cardinal, infallibility, Sacrement, Eucharist, Magic sternum, indulgeance, pergatory, simony...

Where do you find the word Trinity in the Bible?

Photos are images. I'm not sure I got your point on it though Pelayo.

Thank of it as a question from one artist to another. Are any and all images of man wrong? If not why did you stop doing portraits?

The point I tried to make early on was that for me, a problem arose that required me to stop doing them in order to keep my walk with God. If it is a stumbling block either to myself or my brother, I cannot do it. That is the will of the Father. Commitment to God over commitment to myself as it were.

Oh, and almost forgot this. Trinity is shorthand as far as I'm concerned for Father God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. It is not a necessary term as the essentials of it are in the Bible and stand on their own. I'd just as soon reference the three of them than use the word unless I were writing it all out, which is the only time I bother with it. So, in short, it is not in the Bible, nor does it need to be. I'm not certain I really understand the point behind someone coming up with the term to be quite honest - I don't see that it is needed. The early Christians understood the different natures of God without a buzz word in the 1st century and I did in this century.

If Jesus saves, then he better save Himself, from the gory Glory seekers, who use His name in vain.......

Lol. I think he was singing to some in here when he sang "really don't mind if I sit this one out. Your words but a whisper, your deafness a shout."

If there are any on this thread I would like to hear it from them, but what do you think?

I don't think I have seen either camp represented in any number on this thread. Although I believe RnMomof7 would be in the Nazarene camp.

I think the pre-destination vs. free will question is a fundamental question in regard to salvation.

I'm a cube jocky - Computer tech/agent. I troubleshoot hardeware and software problems all day long.

If you can get this worthless G4 working properly I many have to reconsider some of your positions;->

I'm convinced the "G" stands for garbage...

ps would love to discuss these verses...especially 1 John 5:13...as I believe it finishes the salvation by grace/works issue.

Who believes in salvation by works?

The real calculus is in the Scriptures, and it is a never-ending discovery.....

Does that mean that your knowledge of Scripture can continue to grow over time?

R U kiddin'? My knowledge of Scripture, my knowledge of the Lord, my knowledge of myself is still growing. I don't know how many times I've read a familiar verse or passage and ¡*BOOM* ! I'll suddenly understand something or notice something I'd never understood or noticed before. Lights come on all the time; and it's exciting when that happens! Like when I realized the connection between Romans 8:13 and Heb. 9:14. Perhaps something like a magic sternum or a preacher could've told me that---but that would've taken all the fun out of the discovery. I wouldn't rob anyone of the delight of being taught by the Holy Spirit as He uncovers important truths. I attended a Christian high school and a Christian university and learned a lot in Bible classes, but the things I remember best are the things I learned One on one.

Maybe I should have been clearer.

Rather I mean the issue of wether one can know that they are saved.

I've heard it mentioned on these threads by numerous folks...questioning wether one can know they are saved.

God bless

Do you choke on the concept of Theotokos, or "God-bearer"?

Well, I can't find that word in my Gk.lexicon, so I assume it's not a title that God Himself ever used. As I said before (#1293), it's a term I prefer not to use because it places more of an emphasis on Mary than is afforded her in the scriptures. Technically, I suppose you could say that "Mary was the mother of God," but my gut-feeling is that it seems to elevate her above God. "Mary was the mother of the Son of God" is better for me. I really don't even see why it is an issue nor why anyone would WANT to call her that so badly that fights would break out over it! Why not just Mary, Jesus' mother? I don't understand why her "title" is of any importance at all. Just call her what God calls her.

Do you think Jesus is God?

You bet I do. There is plenty of Scripture to back that up, and we're probably all familiar with the proof-texts.

Do you think Mary gave birth to Jesus?

Nah, she adopted Him. Hello? : )

Why, hello hopeful. You still haven't answered my question:Why, hello hopeful. You still haven't answered my question:

Why, hello to you, too, allend. How are you tonight?...or this morning....(It's 2 a.m.) Sorry about not answering your question; I find it awfully difficult to keep up with these threads. I like to read each and every reply, and that takes time, as I'm sure you are aware. My problem is that my times in front of my compooter are rather limited. I have about an hour around noon (M-F), and then the next time I get to check the threads is between 1 and 3 a.m. That's why you'll see a couple of hit-and-runs around noon, and then several replies in a row the next morning. This past Wednesday I had an unexpected day off, so I got to follow the thread pretty closely. I hope I can spend more time with you all this weekend.

"How do you know Mark didn't screw up Peter's teaching? Or Luke Paul's? How do you know the Apostles didn't screw up Jesus' teaching?"

How do I know? Faith. I am certain God wants us to have His "word" (His "say", His "take" on things, the expression of His thoughts)---I KNOW this beyond a shadow of a doubt. Since this is His will, He is able to direct the writing of His word, and He is able to preserve the truths therein for all generations...no matter what scholars may see to be a problem with manuscripts or language barriers. I truly believe His overseeing and preserving it to be a supernatural work; otherwise, we would not have it. As for what the apostles wrote and taught, I believe that John 14-17's promise of the Holy Spirit's help is the guarantee that they would not and did not "screw up."
