With all the new changes going on, I was thinking of all the cool thing FR does. The notify feature was sweet and I JUST found out about it. Can anyone else thing of the cool things Freerepublic has to offer (must be a member to use)? Here is my list(with URL):

FR Style Sheet Bump
It seem xm177e2 is no longer with us. Too bad. But if you're still interested, there is some news on FR style sheets. Check my posts 95-100 on this thread.

Now I'll try to nest unordered lists within ordered lists:

Looks like FRstyle's editing and smiley functions are working.

At the top right, there is this little speaker icon.
Click on that.

Giovanna & fanfan - this is a thread that was in use in 2001 to test stylesheet features. Those features, via the FreeRepublic server, are now deprecated although there is a vestige of the old stylesheets in the Preferences section.
I'm not sure how you two even found this ancient thread. But I was using it to test out new related work that I've done (with JohnRob's approval) on building a custom Firefox extension for FreeRepublic. It provides new layout styles, complete control of thread layouts with stylesheets, inline YouTube and GoogleVideo, the ability to mark your own posts and those on a FRiends list with custom styles. And the preceding posts on this thread were to test the new HTML mini-editor that I've built for the Posting Comments page including posting graphic smilies and special characters and ordered/unordered lists easily.
If anyone is interested, I'm looking for beta testers now. So far, only JohnRob and steveegg have used this. I'd prefer testers with some experience with Firefox and an understanding of how to navigate through their own folders. But I'm looking for complete beginners with Firefox. The idea here is to provide something that changes the entire look and feel of FR but that adds features but without burdening the FR server or altering FR's page output in any way. All extra features run as an extension to Firefox only.
Naturally, this new extension, FRstyle, is open-source Javascript with XUL markup so the code can be inspected by anyone.
Anyone who is interested in beta testing this extension can send me a FReepmail. Indicate your level of computer expertise and whether you're a Firefox beginner or veteran. I'll probably start the beta test in a week or so.

Oh my goodness.
LOL!
I didn’t even note the date.
I use Firefox.
I’ve used it for ages because my husband told me to, and put in on my computer for me.
I am the perfect subject to test this on.
I am not “computer literate” in any way.

You probably underestimate yourself. I'll get back to you on the test.

What about me?
Indeed. I'm so sorry that I haven't flagged you to these lately. I thought I did a while back.
Of course, you can start testing ASAP. Our old CSS crew are automatically included.
Drop me a FReepmail with a usable email address. I'll send it out to you. Man, I gotta write some help files for this thing!
News/Current Events
Adding items to menus - MozillaZine Knowledge Base
I'm testing a new right-click context menu to copy/paste both the link URL and link text and to include FR's favicon for links to FR threads. When copying links to sites other than FR's, it just copies the link/text in HTML. For other websites on, say a news article page, if you right-click somewhere other than a link, it will copy the page's link URL using the page title as the link text and including any favicon. If including favicons, it sizes them reasonably.

I'm liking this new copy link feature. It needs to be easier to make links, especially to do the links for posting new articles.
You can always modify links once copy/pasted.

The preceding is a test of realtime previewing live in the mini-editor. It's more exciting to run it live than to look at the results.

Just a test of the weblink.
- I've copied a link already.
- Now I'll paste it into the editor.
- Now I'll highlight it.
- Next I'll click the Hyperlink toolbar button.
- The requester popped up, asking me to confirm the URL. I accepted it.
- Then it offered me a requester for the link's text. I kept "Linky", the default. I tried a second time and typed the link below.
- It inserted the link, just fine. See below.
