It is understandable that now, more than ever, Americans want to feel safe. Our basic sense of security has been shattered by the events of Sept. 11. But now more than ever we must respondto our fear and uncertainty with common sense and calm, not hysteria.

Sorry Becky ! ............ you don't know sh*t !......we tried it your way and now were in a virtual police state of security, and public panic. I'll take responsibility for myself and mine , you and your other socialist / eliteist had your chance and statistics and historical data validates you and yours Rebecca as just more idiot's who think they know whats best for everybody else but are 100% wrong !!!..........
Thanks for the reminder Jdege that not all enemies of this nation are from somewhere else........Stay Safe !
Oh please! Not this same old lie! At least be original!
Welcome to FR.
" Odd - I thought we wanted to be safe, not just feel safe."
well, we need MORE PEOPLE using guns, not just having them.
terrorize the "bad guys".....n their lawyers
Author: Rebecca Thoman should have started with: "Once upon a time..."?
and ended with,"they lived happily ever after."?
If as a woman she claims that the desire for self-preservation is "hysteria", then damn it, yes, she'd BETTER employ logic and common sense, or I will be all over her like a cheap suit.
And just try to stop me!

The sharp well dressed women have been buying handguns for a long time now.
As you know the S&W "Lady Smith" comes in varying colored grips. The Kel Tec P-11 and P-32 has a selection of colors. Both brands of these handguns have been smashing marketing successes; because, the grips are designed with the pretty feminine hand in mind.
You can get any number of attractive conceal carry hand bags to match the color of your shoes.
Didn't I see a promo...I think it was Paxton Quigley's site, about a new conceal carry bra?
The ladies of the 19th century were known to carry small handguns or dirks in any number of clothing items. The boot or, the garter was an accessable and handy place for a small Derringer.
I think that poor Rebecca is just another victim of the government dumbed-down school system. She has missed a lot of history on the liberty-minded American women that have made this country great.
Had any luck finding a better country? Keep looking.
Regards
"Homicides with guns occur most often between family and friends. In Minnesota in 1999, 65 percent of homicides were committed by people known to the victim; 19 percent were immediate family members. Easily accessible firearms can turn family disputes into tragedies."

Here it is! News you can use...8-)
Bread Kills!
1. More than 98 percent of convicted felons are bread users.
2. Fully HALF of all children who grow up in bread-consuming households score below average on standardized tests.
3. In the 18th century, when virtually all bread was baked in the home, the average life expectancy was less than 50 years; infant mortality rates were unacceptably high; many women died in childbirth; and diseases such as typhoid, yellow fever, and influenza ravaged whole nations.
4. Every piece of bread you eat brings you nearer to death.
5. Bread is associated with all the major diseases of the body. For example, nearly all sick people have eaten bread. The effects are obviously cumulative:
"h 99.9% of all people who die from cancer have eaten bread.
"h 100% of all soldiers have eaten bread.
"h 96.9% of all Communist sympathizers have eaten bread.
"h 99.7% of the people involved in air and auto accidents ate bread within 6 months preceding the accident.
"h 93.1% of juvenile delinquents came from homes where bread is served frequently.
6. Evidence points to the long-term effects of bread eating: Of all the people born since 1839 who later dined on bread, there has been a 100% mortality rate.
7. Bread is made from a substance called "dough." It has been proven that as little as a teaspoon of dough can be used to suffocate a lab rat. The average American eats more bread than that in one day!
8. Primitive tribal societies that have no bread exhibit a low incidence of cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's disease, and osteoporosis.
9. Bread has been proven to be addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water to eat begged for bread after as little as two days.
10. Bread is often a "gateway" food item, leading the user to "harder" items such as butter, jelly, peanut butter, and even cold cuts.
11. Bread has been proven to absorb water. Since the human body is more than 90 percent water, it follows that eating bread could lead to your body being taken over by this absorptive food product, turning you into a soggy, gooey bread-pudding person.
12. Newborn babies can choke on bread.
13. Bread is baked at temperatures as high as 400 degrees Fahrenheit! That kind of heat can kill an adult in less than one minute. 14. Most bread eaters are utterly unable to distinguish between significant scientific fact and meaningless statistical babbling. In light of these frightening statistics, we propose the following bread restrictions:
1. No sale of bread to minors.
2. A nationwide "Just Say No To Toast" campaign, complete celebrity TV spots and bumper stickers.
3. A 300 percent federal tax on all bread to pay for all the societal ills we might associate with bread.
4. No animal or human images, nor any primary colors (which may appeal to children) may be used to promote bread usage.
5. The establishment of "Bread-free" zones around schools.
Yeah, but mines not a cap-fired muzzle-loader.
(Yuck, yuck!)
