I like the new "Self Search" John. Something I really LIKE is that now it only finds "DB" and not any length IDs with a "db" sequence in it. I would have to search through hundreds of "Self Search" hits that weren't to me. I often missed them because there are so many…

Dividing the thread in blocks of 50 should be a switchable option. It might normally be on for low bandwidth and WEBTV people and off for fat pipe-ers.

Nice. See what I miss by going to a fish-fry <VBG>. Three requests (one for the newest versions of self-search, 2 on the "view replies" function of Forum 3.0).

First, could you allow the same choice of viewing the self-search in either Classic FR or New Look FR as in the forum itself (I'm getting quite attached to my style sheet, even though tables currently extend too far to the right in IE6, and some threads inexplicably don't fully-load in NS4 :-) .

Next, could you allow us to reply to the top post in a "view replies" window (example; if I click on view replies to a post #2, I want to be able to also reply to #2 and not just its replies)?

Finally, if you could add a "return to main thread" link, it would be great for those who don't want to have to keep on clicking the "Back" button on the browser (not a personal concern, but something I suspect most people would like).

This is powerful to go back to previous rants and repost them instead of retyping them all the time. It makes the job of spreading the word more powerful. Of course, all powers need to be balanced, so watch out for abuse of this feature.

I like the two links that were in each post line: one to the article and one to the reply itself. Also, it's confusing to not have the recipient's name on the line flagging the post that I make.

Otherwise I like it fine.

I miss having the header on the self-search screen. I typically use that to read my freep mail, etc., which leaves my primary browser free to display the headlines. It saves a lot of wear and tear on the "back" button. ;-)

I also wish that the links in "Breaking News", etc., when clicked in the primary browser, would open on the secondary browser, just like the regular article links. Why hasn't it always worked that way?

The single Ping list is terrific. And having replies, etc so easy to access is mind-boggling and terrific.

JR - I for one would like to be able to set my own time zone for all the time stamps. Any chance of this? Thanks, and keep up the good work. Do close your eyes from time to time, won't you? We are all in your debt.

I love these features---makes it much easier to focus on priorities, especialy when involved in a number of conversations at the same time. Great work and much thanks for your efforts.

Is there anyway to make the new self-search feature chronological by topic rather than strictly chronological?

I just love all the new features, especially the extra long threads broken down into pages. Thanks for all your hard work!

Always thought this was the most user-friendly of forums, but you've topped yourself! Thanks.

I'm getting you a puppy for Christmas.

Time to take self-search 3.0 live. I can't find any bugs that are inherent just to self-search.

I really like it. It is really friction free and makes using the site faster and easier, thusly, we have more fun.
