I just send email to Senator Hatch asking for a written statement confirming or denying any involvement in criminal leaking of information
More interestingly, I called his Salt Lake legislative office (801.524.4380).
I immediately got through and requested that they provide me with a link to or a fax of a written statement where Senator Hatch denies any involvement whatsoever in the leak. I was told such a document does not exist because Senator Hatch did not want to give any recognition to the completely untrue rumors.
I was then asked if I was a member of the press. I said no. I was then put on hold. I was on hold for 3 or 4 minutes and then was forwarded to a very pleasant and polite advisor. I restated my request to this advisor, and she indicated to me that she was an advocate of the Senator publishing a statement to his web page. I informed her that the rumor was the Senator Hatch and Senator Feinstein were the source of the leaks. She told me she had heard that Senator Feinstein was responsible, but that Senator Hatch was not.
I suggested that Senator Hatch should publish a written statement to his web page unequivocally denying any involvement in the leaks. She said she would pass on the info.
Everyone at the Utah office was polite, well spoken, and interested in everything I had to say. Very nice bunch of folks. Unfortunately, in light of the rumors and the resistance to going on record to clear up the rumors, I suspect Senator Hatch in fact was involved, and Senator Hatch has to go.
I suggest calling the Utah office, they were great and seemed to really be interested in my opinion even though I was calling from GA. Not counting the time on hold, I was talking to the two assistants probably for about 10 minutes. They seemed more than a little concerned.

They leaked that there was a "100% chance" of a second attack.... two things bother me about that. (1) if someone leaked this, the terrorist would know they were being watched. (2) If we are watching the terrorists this closely, how could there be a "100% chance" of attack...

How do we know for sure "the leak" isn't Bill Clinton? Former Presidents used to get Intelligence briefings on a daily basis.

A few nights ago my husband and I were discussing the leak and we both felt it was Hatch. Thanks for a little more verification because people were having a hard time believing me and i refused to say it was fact. But a few more here and there and its Hatch.

JUST a guess here, mind you...........but I'll bet dollars to donuts that the reference to Hatch is a "legacy" reference; i.e. his well-publicized, big-mouthed spew a couple of weeks ago that go his arse chewed royally by Rumsfeld (THAT must have been a thing to see/hear; can you imagine that guy standing you up against a wall?? shudder...........). That means, in my theory here, that DiFi was the latest (and possibly more aggregious) of the two "slips of the public tongue". Besides.........what self-respecting Republican would ever speak to the Washington Post (yeah, that even includes Hatch)???
Whaddya think?

It's interesting that, in this entire thread, the suspected leaker is a Senator.......not a member of the House of Representatives. Not exactly a vote of confidence for the senior legislative body.

Yesterday someone swore it was John McCain.

Must have been on the news already...I heard one of those names last night from someone I'm sure has no security clearances or special sources whatsoever.

Censure the idiots and remove them from the intelligence committee if they are on it. I had a lot of respect for Hatch at one time but that has all but disappeared now.

LOL!!! President Bush doesn't blame Sen. Orrin Hatch as the one in Congress with loose lips that might sink ships, administration sources say. In fact, an earlier tirade by Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld against those who are careless with classified data which national media said had targeted Hatch, R-Utah wasn't aimed at him at all, said Rear Adm. Craig R. Quigley, Pentagon spokesman.

I wanted to slap Feinswine when she remarked that a senator had made an "inadvertant remark" to the press!

Oh sure. I suppose we'll hear they're dating?

Hatch did it I believe on Night Line (not sure though). I saw him say that the US government was tracking OBL whereabouts by tracking his satellite phone. This was only days after 9-11-01. The administration reacted angrily immediately afterwards towards Hatch.
So if your information is correct then Feinstein would be the one who recently leaked to the Washington Post.

Orrin Hatch is a chicken-brain, and he was the confirmed, public leaker of classified info right after the terrorist massacres. Feinstein went into a public, on-air snit over GW's decision the other day to restrict classified briefings. I'd say both are prime suspects.

Can these folks say........
" TREASON?"

Idiots!!! What don't they understand about the deadliness of this situation. Media whXXres!!
Sorry -- I just cannot believe someone leading our country (or a part of our country) could act so irresponsibly with ALL of our lives.
On second thought...time for house cleaning.

If true, this is no surprise. Hatch is just the biggest disapointment I have seen lately, and Diane, well, that is a given. I hope this is made public and they both are given the heave ho by the voters. (dream on)
