Special: Leak To Washington Post Is....
Military Naval Admiral/ Security Paper | 10-10-01 | My Favorite Headache

Posted on 10/10/2001 2:35:17 PM PDT by My Favorite Headache

I do not know whether this has been posted here through another source or is being pulled in threads or not. But through military sources and a private document I saw with my own eyes 2 names have been listed as the leak to the Washington Post. p> Sen. Orrin Hatch Republican from Utah and Senator Diane Feinstein Democrat from California. If this is pulled I will understand. This source is 100% accurate. I am currently writing a piece on our national security at this current time for one of the papers I write for. This is bound to come out soon. So I figured I would post this here first.

Yesterday, I indicated that the leak could be either a Dem. OR a Republican, "OR BOTH,"

--- but the leaker could not possibly be President Bush,as one person asserted (on a FR thread/post) might be the case,

which is an outrageous assertion,

in light of the President's demeanor and words on this issue, and the fact that history has a way of revealing what is covered up.

OK, so who is now back on the list for inside info?(Bush expanded from 8 after a breakfast meeting with Congressional leaders this morning.) That would narrow it down by focusing on which Senators are NOT on the list.

What was the information that was leaked exactly?

We don't know what was leaked! That is the very point. The WP capitulated to Condi Rice and DID NOT PRINT IT because it would put our troops in harm's way.

Being a veteran formerly assigned to MI units and possessing a very high clearance, I have to question the validity of anyone claiming to have viewed "private documents" and "security papers" with their own eyes, then running off to post the info on an internet bulletin board. Government agencies would not take such a claim lightly.>>>>>

This is a hoax. >>>>>>>>

You are in your own right to say that as well.I do not blame you. BUT...let me assure you that there is many in the military who are retired and recieve security briefings who are (Reserve & Active Duty) who like Hatch and Feinstein are willing to blow their wad anytime they feel like it. Hell I don't even golf and I have had to sit in golf carts in order sometimes to get some of the real links to what I needed.

This source is as credible as they come.An "egg head group" in the Pentagon. As well as a high ranking officer and leader. There are many like him...trust me. The well runs deep in our military.

My sources, who I cannot reveal for not so obvious reasons, tell me that the original leaker was...

...Usama Bert-Ladin, last known address being Sesame Street. His not so underground rainbow warrior lifestyle left him susceptible to blackmail. Known to be close to aging Hippie radical pacifist peaceniks, we now have photos of him aiding and abetting enemy protests.

I just send email to Senator Hatch asking for a written statement confirming or denying any involvement in criminal leaking of information

More interestingly, I called his Salt Lake legislative office (801.524.4380).

I immediately got through and requested that they provide me with a link to or a fax of a written statement where Senator Hatch denies any involvement whatsoever in the leak. I was told such a document does not exist because Senator Hatch did not want to give any recognition to the completely untrue rumors.

I was then asked if I was a member of the press. I said no. I was then put on hold. I was on hold for 3 or 4 minutes and then was forwarded to a very pleasant and polite advisor. I restated my request to this advisor, and she indicated to me that she was an advocate of the Senator publishing a statement to his web page. I informed her that the rumor was the Senator Hatch and Senator Feinstein were the source of the leaks. She told me she had heard that Senator Feinstein was responsible, but that Senator Hatch was not.

I suggested that Senator Hatch should publish a written statement to his web page unequivocally denying any involvement in the leaks. She said she would pass on the info.

Everyone at the Utah office was polite, well spoken, and interested in everything I had to say. Very nice bunch of folks. Unfortunately, in light of the rumors and the resistance to going on record to clear up the rumors, I suspect Senator Hatch in fact was involved, and Senator Hatch has to go.

I suggest calling the Utah office, they were great and seemed to really be interested in my opinion even though I was calling from GA. Not counting the time on hold, I was talking to the two assistants probably for about 10 minutes. They seemed more than a little concerned.

They leaked that there was a "100% chance" of a second attack.... two things bother me about that. (1) if someone leaked this, the terrorist would know they were being watched. (2) If we are watching the terrorists this closely, how could there be a "100% chance" of attack...

How do we know for sure "the leak" isn't Bill Clinton? Former Presidents used to get Intelligence briefings on a daily basis.

A few nights ago my husband and I were discussing the leak and we both felt it was Hatch. Thanks for a little more verification because people were having a hard time believing me and i refused to say it was fact. But a few more here and there and its Hatch.

Nice job willis. Now you can imagine what it is like when you know someone working in the media or you yourself are trying to get an "on the record" comment on something from someone in government. Runaround is a nice thing to do for hours on the phone if you have the time.

I can't necessarily disagree with your comments there. What I would say is that bringing this to the public's attention is an excellent way to stop it and then Bush can bring prosecution in his own time, if that should be his choice. I'm not sure this actually forces his hand. Interesting concept though.

What bothers me is that we have no Official announcement of who the leaker is.

Therefore, it is only fair that people here do not jump to conclusions, and slander anyones career, with unfounded rumors, no matter who posted the original rumor.

I am in no way defending the source of the leak, only that if you are not sure who or whom it was, then names should not be dropped as if it is factual information.

A careful, rational position would seem to be in order here.
