Special: Leak To Washington Post Is....
Military Naval Admiral/ Security Paper | 10-10-01 | My Favorite Headache

Posted on 10/10/2001 2:35:17 PM PDT by My Favorite Headache

I do not know whether this has been posted here through another source or is being pulled in threads or not. But through military sources and a private document I saw with my own eyes 2 names have been listed as the leak to the Washington Post. p> Sen. Orrin Hatch Republican from Utah and Senator Diane Feinstein Democrat from California. If this is pulled I will understand. This source is 100% accurate. I am currently writing a piece on our national security at this current time for one of the papers I write for. This is bound to come out soon. So I figured I would post this here first.

If what you are saying is true, these people need to be rounded up and locked away for awhile to consider the possible repercussions of such actions and the unnecessary risks created by their stupidity. At the very least, they should be cut off from receiving any further classified information and smacked around for a couple of hours in a small, dark room.

JUST a guess here, mind you...........but I'll bet dollars to donuts that the reference to Hatch is a "legacy" reference; i.e. his well-publicized, big-mouthed spew a couple of weeks ago that go his arse chewed royally by Rumsfeld (THAT must have been a thing to see/hear; can you imagine that guy standing you up against a wall?? shudder...........). That means, in my theory here, that DiFi was the latest (and possibly more aggregious) of the two "slips of the public tongue". Besides.........what self-respecting Republican would ever speak to the Washington Post (yeah, that even includes Hatch)???

Whaddya think?

Yes, the night stalker was Richard Ramirez. He was from LA but did explore the pickings in SF. The police had him in their sights when Feinstein did her 'tell-all' bit and spooked him. The good news is that he was eventually caught with the help of several brave hispanic citizens in So-Cal.

It's interesting that, in this entire thread, the suspected leaker is a Senator.......not a member of the House of Representatives. Not exactly a vote of confidence for the senior legislative body.

Since we are not being officially told who the loose lips belonged to,we must assume that each and every one of them is guilty and replace ALL of them in the next election!

Senators have immunity from arrest while Congress is in session. Even if it's TREASON during war?

I like my dougnuts thank you. Both names were listed as leaks. That is all I was shown. But you might be right in the long run. Like I stated early on in this thread there is damage control being set into place for this right now as we speak. These 2 individuals will have names that will be worthless by the end of the day. Problem is editor's right now are so apprehensive to break a story right now in fear of losing certain privilages whatever they might be. I for one have talked to one editor I work in contact with and he doesn't plan on doing anything with the story I have added to until the time is right.

Things are very sensitive right now.

This entire thread is just what it appears to be, a slander-chocked trick bag for anyone that falls into it.

Just because someone posts something here, that supposedly identifies leakers of classified information, do not jump to conclusions, and throw out reason, and spew slander against someone without proof.

ONE thing Hatch apparently leaked was that on September 11 someone called the White House, made a threat to destroy Air Force One, and gave the confidential White House security codes over the phone to show that the threat was genuine. I believe it was the last point that was the real violation. It was very widely reported at the time (when the Dems in the media, notably the New York Times, were accusing Bush of cowardice for not flying back immediately to Washington) so I am not revealing anything new here. Hatch leaked these details, I believe, because he wanted to defend Bush against those charges, but it was still foolish if he had been warned against it.

Yesterday someone swore it was John McCain. >>>>

William Jefferson Clinton did the same thing on a bible and it made ZERO difference. Swearing on anything these days means nadda. Horrible as it is. By the way...O.J. Simpson killed Ron and Nicole...(at least I think he did). But he swears he didn't.

... nobody knows what the heck was leaked.

For which we can thank the WashPost's Bob Woodward and his colleagues.

They asked the WH if there was a problem printing the leakage, were told there was and spiked the story.

Give credit where it is due: The Washington Post behaved better than the leakers.

Must have been on the news already...I heard one of those names last night from someone I'm sure has no security clearances or special sources whatsoever.

Censure the idiots and remove them from the intelligence committee if they are on it. I had a lot of respect for Hatch at one time but that has all but disappeared now.

Understandable (the editors' concerns, that is). One doesn't trifle with US Senators........especially powerful ones, especially when we're talking about possible career-enders here. Keep up the good work.......and let's see if I'm "right". :)

Ah, yes, my esteemed Senator DiFi. I recall sending her a letter after she apologized to the Chinese telling her she was dogshit and that I would never forget.
