Special: Leak To Washington Post Is....
Military Naval Admiral/ Security Paper | 10-10-01 | My Favorite Headache

Posted on 10/10/2001 2:35:17 PM PDT by My Favorite Headache

I do not know whether this has been posted here through another source or is being pulled in threads or not. But through military sources and a private document I saw with my own eyes 2 names have been listed as the leak to the Washington Post. p> Sen. Orrin Hatch Republican from Utah and Senator Diane Feinstein Democrat from California. If this is pulled I will understand. This source is 100% accurate. I am currently writing a piece on our national security at this current time for one of the papers I write for. This is bound to come out soon. So I figured I would post this here first.

I saw their names listed a couple days ago. Just didn't know why.

As I stated previously. If I was under the impression I was going to be judged for writing a blurb and matched with an AP story , I would have done so much more in the way of linking verbs, adjectives, and not used the word "Terrorist" in the manner Reuters doesn't. From now on every Freeper should be on guard about predicate and sentence fragmenting here in your posts. I mean we are talking about an internet posting board here right? Punctuation, Spelling, and Capitalization must always be checked from now on.

Go with smiles...:)

Isn't this latest "leaking" controversey over the WashPost report that there's a "100% chance of a retalitatory terror attack" after the US military bombs Afghanistan? This is exactly the information that SHOULD be known by the citizenry, and it's a good thing if Congress leaked.

This leaves aside the issue of whether said information was accurate and/or honest in the first place, a different question.

The other Hatch-leak controversey was when he said NSA had tapes of calls made after the bombing by bin Laden operatives on the phone congratulating the other. Again, why is this somehting we should not know? Is the "source and method" being protected Echelon, which is illegal under the Fourth Amendment? Maybe that kind of reasoning is what keeps us peons from seeing the evidence but not the Pakistani ISI, which has its own "leaking" problems -- the leaks that go directly to the Taliban and/or Al Qaeda. . .

My two cents. . .

Congressional Mirror Sessions

Just shut down congress, they don't do anything worthwhile anyway.

I am a "newsie," and I can understand it, but -- I don't believe this one. Big difference.

You're right.

If this information is accurate and correct...that Hatch leaked info that alerted bin laiden that he was being tracked by his cell phone calls, then he should be tried for treason. WHEN WILL THERE BE ACCOUNTABILITY FOR ANYTHING?????

President Bush doesn't blame Sen. Orrin Hatch as the one in Congress with loose lips that might sink ships, administration sources say...........

Look at the source, was this quote really, "President Bush doesn't blame Sen. Orrin Hatch as the one in Congress with loose lips that might sink ships,"--Orrin Hatch said that--" administration sources say..........."

Feinstein is no surprise and neither is Hatch. Hatch is goofy. At times i truly wonder about his ability to think and connect the dots.

No. That was printed. The WashPost spiked another story after talking to the WH. That's the leak under question.

We don't know the subject.

As I just wrote in response to your FReepmail to me -- you cannot blame someone for being suspicious of someone who publicly posts anything using such atrocious grammar and punctuation, yet still claims to be a "professional." I use better grammar and punctuation on my grocery list. (Sorry, but as I wrote previously, it goes against the grain!)

I was thinking it might be Hillery. She is a snitch from childhood, trying to reveal secrets that hurt people. It fits her history perfectly, looking at the 900+ Republican FBI file 'snafoo'. And she obviously has hangups that make her 1... not care about terrorism [remember the FALN fiasco], 2... hate Bush with an obssessive lack of self control [as could be seen on her face during his speech].

But hey. If I was wrong, perhaps I should apologise for such unkind thoughts? Nahhhhh.

Maybe the fact that I was not an English major might have something to do with it and my degree is in communications and broadcasting. I took the job in the newspaper field because it was the only challenging one to do and there is not an entire corporate cock block like ClearChannel has on the people I work for and with. So with that being said...I usually post in quick thought short hand sentences on FR mainly because I am reading or doing something else on the net at the same time. Thanks for the reply back.

Whew! I thought you were getting all civil on me there for a second. Never apologize for a negative thought or comment about any of the Clinton's. You are bound in the long run to be correct about your assumption. One way or the other.

I wasn't an English major either. I, too, am usually doing other things while on the internet. But if that makes you feel better, go with it. ;-}

I simply made observations, agreed with a couple of other FReepers, and explained why I couldn't believe the source of the original post. I don't want to write a dissertation on the subject. Keep smilin'!

There was a thread yesterday posted by someone else "in the know" with "friends in high places" and that person swore up & down it was McCain.

I don't disbelieve you or the yesterday's poster ...the list of suspects is long.

I can't get worked up over this until I know who it was (without a doubt) and what it was about (not secifics, generalities).

Senators only have immunity when making statements on the floor of the Senate. They can be zapped for making statements outside their strict role as legislators. So, if they want to defame someone, they make sure they do it from the Senate floor. The same would apply to statements that allegedly constitute treason.

I'm phrasing it that way because there's the whole "prior restraint" legal issue that can get squirrely. But the bottom line is that no Congressman is going to get prosecuted anyway.
