The pledge is the simply the finest piece of Socialist propaganda ever written. I will not say it, and dang it, no American should be saying it, much less forced to say it.

It's time to bring back the wonderfull traditions of stocks as well as tar and feathering. I would prefer a good public beating but I guess we'll have to start small.

During the war in Viet Nam Madison was the site of continuous anti-war rioting and violence. The pacificists were in a constant state of conflict with the police. My father was Police Officer in a small town 30 miles from Madison. During the worst of the riots my father stood in the police lines facing the protestors. He was spit on, hit with rocks and bricks, called a "dirty fascist pig", kicked and punched. Of course, he was asked to simply stand his ground and take the beating, which he and the other officers did in a great show of self-control. They only responded when in danger of physical harm.

Meanwhile the pacifists burned cars and buildings, damaged property, destroyed fire hydrants (to keep the fires burning) and injured police and firemen.

Great town, Madison. Some things don't change.

These people have done us a favor by putting their hatred of America on public display again. Their politically correct, liberal orthodoxy stands as a symbol against all of us who believe in America and love what it stands for.

Yes, at the very least 'choice' should be an option - not to say it. Seems it might be time for Madison Lefties to start their own schools, or just pay for the 'public' education they are now getting.

Madison is known for it's Liberal/Left predisposition, but this is rediculous. It shows whether these people are the minority or the majority; they are incapable of the rational which is required for good governance.

Wish I could at least threaten, they will never get my 'tourist dollar'; but. . .

. . .will think of something. In the meantime, I will send mail.

How my two sons start their school day: 1) Pledge of Allegiance 2) Sing National Anthem 3) sing God Bless America 4) whole school convocation in Chapel (Bible hour and full school prayer) 5) rest of day: actually LEARN reading, writing, math Nothin else, no "homo tolerance lessons" , no politically correct BS, no sex ed., no evolution science. Private Christian School, why do you STILL send your precious children to public scrools? That shiny new car in your driveway more important than your children? shame on you....

"...and doesn't trample on anyone's rights..."

I submit that the "rights" cited:

1) Do NOT, and have never, existed, and

2) Even if they did, it's time to trample these morons.

Since our money has "In God We Trust" I think the "least intrusive and least offensive" way to handle that would be for the Cheese Heads to, say, turn all their money over to moi!

The 3-2 board vote came after several parents and teachers complained that the pledge, which contains the line "one nation, under God," is a religious oath that doesn't belong in public schools.

What I want to know is how many of these "parents and teachers" can honestly say they were permanently scarred by reciting or hearing the PoA as a child? Something messed them up, but it sure wasn't our Pledge. Why did they wait all these years to come out with this?
I remember in my first grade class (early 60's), there was a kid who was a Jehovah's Witness. Our teacher explained to us that the boy would not say the Pledge with us, but he would stand with us. Even as first graders, we understood and we were all OK with it. His parents didn't complain that none of us should say it, just because he couldn't.

Others criticized the pledge for promoting nationalism and militarism.

What's wrong with that???? Isn't that part of Patriotism???

This kind of news makes me ill at my stomach. Big Texas FReep goes all the way to Wisconsin.

I had a college professor at Georgia Tech who was from that part of the world, graduated from UW in Madison. At the time, Wisconsin had a tourism campaign that included bumper stickers with the slogan "Escape to Wisconsin". He had one on his car, strategically modified to read:

Escape Wisconsin

Idiots like the ones on the Madison School Board are why he did so.

This is to the flag! It's not even a religious matter. Are those people sick of doing politics while they should educate about our nation. New citizens are required to pledge, for goodness sakes.

This just reinforces my belief that we should put all international business on hold, and direct our resources toward cleaning up the cesspool right here at home. These are not honest disagreements, they're a blatent attempt to undermine America and the American way of life (sound like the Taliban?). The ACLU has similar goals.

I hope the community flames them good. Of course, I'll be putting pen to paper to do my part.

comply with a new state law that requires a daily patriotism dose.

Its worth more if you're forced to do it. That way, on the day one kid refuses, everyone gets to learn what america is really all about.

Instead, schools can use only the national anthem - and then only instrumental versions of it. No words.

No words!!! Is Madison in enemy hands, or what? Perhaps the Governor ought to declare Martial Law in Madison, and send in the National Guard to take over the schools, until a Board can be found that is not afraid to give verbal expression of loyalty.

I am only half kidding. How did the people of Wisconsin ever allow their State capital to become a nest of subversives? I would certainly hope that the last local school levy has passed in such a community, until there is a 180 degree change!
