Sr. Lucy Receives New Message
Diocese Report ^

Posted on 10/07/2001 4:41:26 PM PDT by HapaxLegamenon

Michael Matt, editor of the Remnant a traditionalist Catholic newspaper published the following report on their website. We have been informed by a reliable contact in France that Sister Lucy (the only surviving seer of the Fatima apparitions) has delivered a message to Carmelite sisters in France. According to this report, Sister Lucy recently received another communication from the Mother of God. In the wake of that communication, we are told, Sister Lucy has asked Carmelite sisters throughout the world to pray specifically on the Feast of the Most Holy Rosary for a special intention. That intention is, we are told, that the world might be spared “a blood bath.” Whether this has any connection to the impending war with Islamic terrorists, we have no way of knowing. Though our French source is reliable, we have not been able to confirm this report ourselves, and are now in the process of trying to do so. At least two Carmelite convents in the United States have indicated to us that they have NOT received such a message. One Carmelite convent, however, did confirm that they did receive a letter from the Asociatcion Ntra. Sca Del Rosario in Fatima Portugal (dated September 13th, 2001), which did call on the Carmelite order to unite with Sister Lucy in praying for peace in the world on October 7—the Feast of the Holy Rosary. In this letter (written in Spanish) there was no mention of a recent communication to Sister Lucy from Our Lady, nor was there reference to a “blood bath.” We are presently waiting for the text of the French version. In any event, we believe that, because time is short between now and the Feast of the Holy Rosary, it would be a good idea for all Catholics to join the Carmelites in praying for this intention on tomorrow’s Feast. Such an intention is a certainly most worthy, especially right now; so even if this French report turns out to be somehow exaggerated, the intention is still well worth remembering during this critical hour of unrest and uncertainty in the world.

Ridicule of Catholicism is the only acceptible ridicule. I will take that as a good sign.

I have nothing but respect for my Christian brothers. If you found my very minor play on the name 'Lucy' to be offensive to Christianity -- which such offense I never intended -- then I apologise.

Why do you Catholics have to pray to those 'intercessories'??? Why don't you direct your prayers to the LORD, JESUS, THE CHRIST???????????

I AM A LUTHERAN and because of Martin Luther, we found that the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church are FALSE!!

We believe that Our Lord Jesus Christ founded the One True Catholic Faith. We also believe that Mary, His mother, humbled herself to God's will, and became the mother of God. The two are thus bound inexplicably to one another. She stood silently by as the enemies of Christ, her son, cruelly tortured and crucified him on the cross. She kept her peace knowing that she was all part of God's plan to redeem the world which was hopelessly lost to Original Sin.

Our Lord, Jesus, so loved his Mother that he proclaimed that if we ask anything in his Holy Mother's name it will be granted to us, as he cannot deny His Mother anything. This is a part of our Faith that is embedded into our very souls. Mary is our recourse. She is our Mother. And just as our earthly mothers cannot deny our most urgent needs, our Heavenly Mother will look after us until we see her enthroned along side of our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Say, I hope you weren't offended by my silly little Lucy cartoon. I meant no disrespect; it is G-d who has bestowed us with humor -- His greatest gift -- and if my gift failed me, I apologize.

Unlike Laz, I won't apologize. My comment did not insult The Church in any way, and it was posted before this thread became yet another silly religious slugfest.

Taken in that context, it was received with laughs, as evidenced by some of the comments.

BTW - I've earned enough stripes on this board defending The Church from bashers without feeling the need to explain myself, anyway.

If you are Catholic, then you need to read more about how the Magisterium works. A Pope is not unfallible unless he is speaking on FAITH AND MORALS ONLY. That is the only time he cannot make a mistake in what he says...got it? FAITH AND MORALS.....

And if you're not a Catholic, then I invite you to please SHUT UP about things you know nothing about.

St. Augustine in his Confessions rejects the notion of the innocence of babies:

"I have myself seen a small baby jealous; it was too young to speak,
but it was livid with anger as it watched another infant at the breast"
(Book I, Chapter VII, trans. F. J. Sheed).

You have said what many Traditional Catholics want to say. I applaude you.

There are political 'sheeple' and there are the religiously ignorant or stubborn 'sheeple'.

Thanks for the enlightening comments.

Lucy - you got some 'splainin' to do!

sorry senator ... this is utter ridicule of Catholic beliefs ... if you disagree, fine ... just say how, and do your own "'splainin'" ... but to compare any aspect of Fatima with a sitcom, demonstrates a trite understanding and shallow and hateful perspective

Thank you, MarineMom, It is so hard to explain to others what we as Catholics know and feel as sacred from the bottom of our hearts. I applaud you, as a MarineMom. My prayers are with you and your family. God Bless! Fortitude

I'm Catholic, and I appreciated having a good chuckle before entering the Protestant vs. Catholic bloodbath that I expect on these threads : )

I'm Catholic and thought it was cute. And I've seen you defend denominations that have been attacked, and I've always appreciated it. Peace.
