Glad to see you bring it back, wimom. I spent WAY too much time on the Wacky Packages website though. Did I remember someone posting something about the guy who drew the 'Zippy the Pinhead' comic getting his start drawing WP's?

...anyone remember the Klutch Cargo TV cartoon?!! That was that exceedingly cheesy one in which the characters' mouths had superimposed over them actual human lips. As Dave Barry would say, "I'm not making this up."

Of the perhaps one hundred times that I've asked many different "Brady Boomers" this question, in multiple states, I've gotten but ONE affirmative response, plus many, many stares of incredulity. I AM NOT CRAZY!!!!!!!!!

Who was Jan's admirer that sent her the locket? Who was Cindy's admirer that sent her a hair ribbon and candy bar? Where did the Brady's store their window screens? In the episode where Marcia gets hit in the nose with a football, who did Marcia break her date with in order to date the Big Man on Campus? What was the name of the Big Man on Campus? What was the name of the toy shop where Peter saved a life? What was the name of the ice cream shop where Marcia worked?

:-)

Here's the AP story from the link. Don't know about the hoax. If this is a hoax, someone's real sick.

LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- A car accident Saturday evening has cost the life of Britney Spears, teen pop music sensation, and has placed fellow passenger and musician Justin Timberlake in critical condition at Los Angeles County Hospital.

Spears and Timberlake were driving through the Los Angeles area late Saturday as both enjoyed a brief moment away from their busy touring and recording schedules when, according to eyewitness reports, their car, a rented Porsche 911, veered suddenly across six lanes of traffic and into a concrete barrier.

Motorists at the scene reported that Spears was ejected from the vehicle at impact and flew into opposing traffic, where she was caught under the wheels of at least one other vehicle before traffic could stop. Timberlake remained safely in the damaged vehicle.

"It was horrible, absolutely horrible," said one witness to the scene, "she was thrown around on the road like a rag doll. We stopped and ran to help but it was obvious there was nothing we could do."

Authorities pronounced Spears dead at the scene, while Timberlake was rushed to emergency surgery to treat internal bleeding.

The cause of the accident is still officially unknown, but witnesses on the scene have told CNN that Timberlake, who was behind the wheel of the vehicle, may have been under the influence of controlled substances, and that Spears may have been engaged in activities that may have distracted him from the road.

"It's too early to say at this point what may have caused the accident," said an officer at the scene, "it appears that the driver lost control of the vehicle suddenly, but we're still determining why that happened."

I was at least eighteen before I realized Brady Bunch had actually been on at night. I thought it was an after-school show, along with Gilligan's Island and the weekly ABC After School Special. Great thread, thanks!

And of course, we faithfully watched The Brady Bunch every Friday night.

Speak for yourself. The show nauseated me...

I am in the rarest of all, the Blank (those born in either 1965 or 1966). The boomers are born between 1945 and 1964 ( the 20 years after WWII) and Gen Xers are born from 1967 to 1986 (the 20 years starting with the Summer of Love in 1967). We do not partake of either generation and will gladly go down in history as born at the perfect time (strictly my opining) for the 50 years of 1950 to 2000. We got to vote for Reagan as 18 year olds in our first election. and also made it by months of drinking legally at 18 in most states. We got to come of age (the 5 years of 18 to 23) right at the last half of the 1980's ( when there was the perfect confluence of new tech, but low surveilance based on that tech). We were already moving towards adult tendencies when the Gen X slacker mentality hit in 1990, yet we also maintain ties with the tail draggers (very end o' the boomers born from 1960 to 1964)who give credibilty to us of having firsthand knowledge of the last pre-tech teenage way of life.

I was born in 1965, and have vociferously denied membership in Gen X ever since it became known as anything other than Billy Idol's first band. Even as a kid, I thought the Brady Bunch was cheesy, so I have to decline on this one. BUT...if you can come up with something having to do with the 6 Million Dollar Man or the Incredible Hulk, I'm all ears.
