Porn Politics in the McGreevey Campaign?
Major McGreevey strategist and fund-raiser represented pornography industry coalition

(WEST ORANGE, OCTOBER 5) - Schundler for Governor campaign manager Bill Pascoe, responding to State Democrat Chairman Joe Roberts’ comments regarding Republican gubernatorial nominee Bret Schundler’s support from conservative donors, today issued the following statement:

"Joe Roberts has a point -- we’ve received contributions from New Jersey, and all over the country, from people who believe that taxes should be cut, families should be safe, parents should have more control over their children’s education, and open space should be preserved. We apologize if it seems our fund-raising has been slanted to what Joe calls the ‘right-wing’ side -- and in order to address this properly, I’m putting out a call here and now for more ‘left-wingers’ www.bret2001.com -- and contribute online right now.

"There is, however, one group of people we don’t really want contributions from -- the pornography industry, and those who represent it as lobbyists. One such individual is John Torok, a Trenton insider and special interest lobbyist who serves as one of Jim McGreevey’s key strategists and fundraisers.

"According to documentation from the Election Law Enforcement Commission, in 1994 John Torok registered to lobby for an organization called the ‘Coalition for the Preservation of the First Amendment.’ The lobbying registration form filled out by Mr. Torok indicates that the Coalition ‘is comprised of a number of adult type businesses whose principal place of business is New Jersey,’ and further indicates that the businesses ‘are concerned with legislation that if passed, might infringe upon their First Amendment rights.’

"We’re wondering exactly what restrictions or infringements have the pornographers concerned? Maybe Jim McGreevey’s porn lobbyist buddy thinks we should have zero restrictions, and allow porn peddlers to conduct business next to schools, synagogues, churches and mosques? Who knows?

"Just as importantly, though, what do some of Jim McGreevey’s OTHER allies -- say, the National Organization for Women -- have to say about his support from a porn industry lobbyist? Seeing as how Jim McGreevey is gladly accepting money raised by a man who once made money off the intentional subjugation of women for sexual purposes, I think it’d be very interesting to ask the Patricia Irelands, Ellie Smeals, and Kate Michelmans of the world what THEY think. Wouldn’t it?

"One final point -- any comparison of the average contribution to the two campaigns shows a very clear distinction. Our average contribution is about $350; Jim McGreevey’s average contribution is about four times that much. Regular working folks -- who are taxed WAY too highly in this state -- don’t have anywhere NEAR the money to contribute to politics as the special interest fat cats supporting Jim McGreevey. But once Bret Schundler becomes Governor, and his tax cuts are in place, that situation will be remedied. Help is on the way!"

Abuse button pushed. Even if you got evidence - which I seriously doubt - that kind of allegation does more damage to the home team than it does to the opposition.

Go, Bret, go!!
As long as Bret stays tough on the scumbag liberals and stays completely unafraid to call them the liars and pigs they are, he will continue to pick up speed.

By the way, McGreevey has a radio ad running now where he actually tries to imitate Clinton's voice, but with a definite "stupid" flavor added to his inflection (unless McGreevey always sounds ignorant and uneducated) in order to appeal to the teachers and the union types. At the end of this ad, he says that "government should represent the people who ought to be represented". I had to hear the ad three times to be sure I heard it right. McGreevey is a typical shifty liberal, bought and sold by the teachers' union and exactly the kind of scumbag the people of New Jersey love, LOL. Unfortunately, they don't have much time for a decent individual like Bret, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Egads! In all my time on FR, I have never seen such puerile behaviour. Calling in Jim an John Rob on this. Hitting the abuse button. Keep it coming, Harrison B. You are making such a fool of yourself. I just wish this thread had more reach so people could see your "angst".

Try to act like an adult for a moment and answer this very simple question.

Do you think that a politician's homosexuality is a valid issue in a political campaign? Be mindful of the fact that a formerly closeted homosexual has announced today that he/she is a candidate in the North Carolina Senate campaign for the Helms seat?

If this politician (as many others)is making an issue of his/her homosexuality, why is McGreevy keeping it a secret?

Thanks for posting this, clikker. I like the idea of the whole web page being seen, rather than just the article. How did you do it? I have to get over my fear of posting a thread. I messed up my first thread a long time ago, and have shied away ever since.

I'm glad the McGreevey people can't think beyond their own narrow world. Imagine calling the Cato Institute, the American Conservative Union and the others - 'extremists'! They walked right into it this time! HeeHee!

I heard this radio ad on either WCBS or WABC (or both) a couple of days ago. I had to listen to it a couple of times myself to be sure it was an actual campaign ad and not a parody. McGreevey really comes across as a sleazy little uneducated-sounding slimeball! I sure hope his voice is a BIG turn-off for NJ voters.
