I have just been informed (and apparently it is on Houston TV) that our FRiend, Herb Meadows, aka "CHIEF negotiator" was the victim of an intentionally set fire. He was murdered, in other words.

I am, of course, well beyond outraged that some low life scumbag would take Herb's life in such a heinous manner, and hereby publicly vow to ensure that his death does not go unavenged. Justice will prevail!

Having said that, I am, fellow FReepers, in a raging "eye for an eye and tooth for a tooth mode!"

The only thing that I might add is a simple question. Did Chief work with explosive powder in maybe making his own amo(legaly of course), and if so then could an accident have occured. This might look like deliberate arson at first. Of course it sounds like this has already been ruled out by the strenght of your statement that it was arson and murder. Just wondering if you have any more details.

Fellow FReepers, as far as I (and his family know), Herb was not murdered as a consequence of his National Retail Sales Tax work.

It was, and here there is much conjecture, a local dispute with either a neighbor or a former employee.

I will update you as soon as I have any further information.

Why would I kid about such a thing? I clicked on the link and it looks like a donation to FR. That's why I asked. FR is a wonderful cause but in this case I would like my money to go to the widow. (I now know it does.)

Thanks for the update Taxman, this is absolutley terrible news on top of the already hottible news of his passing. I am lifting up the rest of the family in prayer to the Lord for protection.

We have over two thousand dollars for Mrs Meadows. A few folks have donated in memory of Herb to FR, but most is for the Mrs.

Thank you, Dog. I talked with Belinda about an hour ago. She is holding up as well as can be expected, given these horrible circumstances.

She is surrounded with FRiends and family, and is safe. Among other things, I told her that she has a lot of FReeper prayers out for her and her children and grandchildren.
