WASHINGTON (AP) - Administration and European officials are signaling that a major military action may not come anytime soon, even as U.S. troops, warplanes and ships gather in the Gulf region.
Meanwhile, Taliban soldiers were reported Friday to be taking heavy weapons into the mountains of Afghanistan to await an assault.
There were growing signs that the coalition the United States is assembling for the anti-terrorism campaign is still struggling to decide exactly what to do

Everyday it looks more clearer that Bush is going to do nothing!
Don't believe everything you read in the newspapers.
Dubya may just want bin Laden/the Taliban to think he can't get the group together.

If this coalition gets any more confusing, we won't know for whom to cheer.

That'll be the excuse too. "we wanted to attack but we didn't want our troops to get COLD FEET in all that Afgan snow"

We do not need reckless responses to the terrorism. We do not need clintonism. I, for one, have every confidence in my country's President, George W. Bush! Seconded.

"Exactly. They know what they're doing. Every moment we wait, it strengthens OUR position, not theirs. "
Yep. And it gives the Feds time to look for more cells here in America and everywhere else. We have a loaded gun pointed at their heads. If they do something over here before we strike over there.....they will have handed us a reason not just to punish, but to utterly destroy them.

"It Will be Done on Our Timetable Not Theirs" Keep That in Mind.....Yep, he's letting them worry. He's using the psychological fear factor on them. They see us gathered there and they know what we can do. I would imagine that by the time we attack half of the Taliban army has hauled @ss out of there.

So instead of bitchin' and moanin', why don't you grace us with what your plan of attack would be?

Where is the man I voted for? 6000 dead. They deserve justice. They will get justice, if you are patient. If you are not, all we'll get is a couple hundred thousand dead military people and who knows how many civilians. What do you want, justice? Or all of us dead?

I'm an American...are you sure you are an American? Doesn't sound like since you aren't calling for any type of action to the Sept 11 attack. See...two can play that game:)

Your right. I'm tired of it as well, but you can bet I'm going to hold the Admin to its promises. And you can make me eat my words anytime ;-) If I have to eat them, we are probably kicking somebodys life force to death....and that is what I want

This period of mourning and Patriotism can be likened to a calm before a storm. Put your faith and trust in he whom we elected and you will see that Americas patriots of freedom and democracy elected the right person. And in your prayers, thank God that Gore was unsuccessful in his bid to steal the election. For if that did happen we would undoubtedly be in Deep Poop!!!!!

If we find out where a group is, we send in helicopters and kill them. Those mountains are not our local hills. It is not going to be easy to fly a chopper there, especially in winter. They are used to the altitude and they know the area very well, that includes the maze of caves. The worst part is, they are not military, they are terrorists. This is not going to be like IRAQ, where we knew, whom we were fighting. It is going to be close to impossible for us to weed the civilians out and just attack the terrorists. What ever we give them, the locals may not be of much help to our forces.
I woudl feel much safer if our back yard is safe. Going after those guys is essential, but can wait. First lets, weed out their supporters here and make sure they do not get back in.

Don't mean to flame but the conclusions you and others seem to draw from a Clymeriated Presstitute article that says nothing are really quite simplistic. This ain't no one time bombing run type affair. Take a stroll over to Stratfor.com or read a little bit more on what likely/speculated plans are for this 6 to 10 year endeavor....

"we wanted to attack but we didn't want our troops to get COLD FEET in all that Afgan snow" You insult our fighting men and women with your inane blather on this thread. When called upon, they will do the job while you whine behind your keyboard because your bloodlust isn't being satisfied quickly enough.

I, personally, feel our Commander in Chief has more up his sleeves than we're hearing. Amen, Slip! I've started a list of naysayers called "mombonn's I Told You So List". I plan to deliver personaly razzberries to each of them when our President ONCE AGAIN delivers the goods.
I'm so SICK of the "I voted for Bush, but . . ." people. I guess these guys are sorry they didn't vote for sore/loserman.
sheesh

I'm an American...are you sure you are an American? Doesn't sound like since you aren't calling for any type of action to the Sept 11 attack. See...two can play that game:) Sure.
I am as big a hawk as anyone else here on FR. However, I know the man we faught for and elected President WILL NOT LET THIS STAND. It is for this reason that I am very annoyed by about 50% of Freepers, who sit around bitching and complaining (with no proper reason) while our leaders prepare to "rid the world of these evil-doers".
Here's my post from a previous thread. Please read it, and please try to understand that our fear of what President Bush might NOT do is completely baseless.
The only information the world should care to believe is that the United States has been attacked, and its response will be massive. No one should doubt the resolve of this nation. Everyone who has attacked us in the past has paid with massive loss of life and treasure. This will be no exception.
Does anyone really believe otherwise?
Everything between 9/11 and the time of our response is heresay, speculation, spin, propaganda, facts, and lies all mixed together in one unintelligable mess. It's designed to throw the entire world off track, including us.
"I will not forget this wound to our country or those who inflicted it. I will not yield; I will not rest; I will not relent in waging this struggle for freedom and security for the American people..."
"Fellow citizens, we'll meet violence with patient justice -- assured of the rightness of our cause, and confident of the victories to come."
President George W. Bush
