U.S. says bus crash apparently "random" event

WASHINGTON, Oct 3 (Reuters) - The crash of a Greyhound bus in Tennessee on Wednesday appears to have been a "random" event unrelated to last month's terror attacks on the United States, the Transportation Department said.

The department believes "it was a random incident not related to the September 11 terrorist attacks," said Dave Longo, a spokesperson for the Federal Motorcarrier Administration, a division of the Transportation Department.

But he said there were conflicting reports "and we are waiting for more details to come in from the field."

Greyhound Lines suspended bus services across the United States after at least three people were killed in a crash that television reports attributed to a passenger attack on the bus driver.

I'm with you. Now, they're saying he was "just a deranged individual," as if the 911 bombers weren't deranged, and that he "didn't say anything religious," as if they had any record of the 911 terrorists saying anything religious. However, FBI involvement doesn't necessarily mean anything: the Bureau is automatically invovled in any hijacking investigation. This was interstate travel, after all.

If this isn't directly related to Bin Laden, and if the perp is a Muslim, then it's one of two other perhaps more troubling things:

1. This is a true-believer who takes this jihad thing to heart and obviously hasn't been listening to the 24/7 drumbeat stateside about how Muslims are pacifists and they're just kidding about all that stuff in the Koran referring to whacking out infidels, or

2. It's a "copy-cat" killing. Victims of copy-cat versions of terrorist acts are just as dead as those of the real deal.

There are two explanations of why reports on the event are comparitively sparse (no mention on Hannity/Colmes, or other cable talk shows I've seen this afternoon, etc., etc.) and why in virtually NO report is the NUMBER ONE question asked, what is the nationality of the perp (so much for investigative, penetrating journalism---these guys speak of how they must EXPLAIN the news, but avoid this touchy subject like the plague):

1. The managed-media is playing ball w/ government and squelching this event to downplay the extent of the terrorist threat, preventing panic, or

2. They seek to prevent acts of "hate" and vigilantism against Muslims in the USA, and to maintain the blissful state of PC diveristy and open-mindedness that is required for our "we are the world/give peace a chance" mentality, and the media's aim here dovetails with the government's desire to maintain calm.

Out of the box thinking would lead one to think that targets need not be large. The puppetmasters see that America is expecting another WTC the next time. Good time for them to slip in a few small ones to the left when the whole country is looking right. A good boxer does not throw haymakers every punch. ABC News network just stated that authorities are confirming that the attacker had a Croatian I.D. Just thought you'd want to know that another source has backed up the story.

ITA!!! There were quite a few *little* terrorists acts until Sept.11. Americans just moaned and groaned and rolled over and went back to sleep until the big one woke them up. Now, they are on alert but they have no idea what to look out for. They better not fall asleep again and look out for the little things which are signs of bigger things to come.

FYI, a lot of KLA have Croat citizenship. for example....the head of the KLA Agim Ceku holds a Croatian passport........in addition some of the Bosnian Mujahdeen may have also gotten Croat papers.

Thanks for the background. The fact that he had Croat ID never persuaded me that this wasn't a terrorist hit, especially given the lame rationalizations by the head of Greyhound ("He didn't say anything religious" -- as if we knew that the 911 terrorists had made religious statements?). What this was, I don't know, but the Feds and Greyhound are going to have to do a heck of a lot better job at making the case that this wasn't terrorism.

We shouldn't assume that bin Laden's operation functions like a Swiss watch. On 9/11, even as the Trade Center towers were felled, his attempts to destroy the White House and the Capitol failed. The original, 1993 WTC attack was intended to kill 200,000 people, but ended up taking only six lives. Yousef's plan to blow up 12 airliners in flight was scotched. The Millenium bombing was foiled. In many respects, bin Laden's army is a ramshackle army. Very possibly -- not certainly, but possibly -- he has no master plan for a follow-up, or none that he can effect with a high degree of confidence. OTOH, he has numbers: dozens of sleepers, plus a Fifth Column of perhaps 100,000 Muslim supremicists on the US mainland. As this thing progreses, I expect to see ongoing terrorist activity in the US, ranging from large-scale, chemical weapons attacks to smaller suicide bombings and the like on targets of opportunity. Many will be foiled or go off half-cocked, and this may well be such an incident. If so, I assume that the authorities are downplaying it to avoid panic, and because they feel the need to keep up the "Muslims are our friends" facade, because the alternative would present them with some tough choices vis à vis registration, detention, or expulsion of the jihad supporters in our midst.

Well, you see..., that was my point. It was a stupid thing to do -- UNLESS -- they knew something more than they are saying right now.

I used to think that way: The other guy knows all things at the time that he is purposely planning the next step. Then I did some aging and growing and learned that most people were like me; They don't know everything. Hell, many times they don't know anything before they act.

Yeah, let's do a little recap of events.
A Middle-Eastern individual, extremely concerned with the time (schedule,)pulls a box cutter and slices the throat of the driver (pilot) of a public conveyance. He then commandeers that vehicle and attempts to kill a large numberof US civilians and dies in the process....
Yep, nothing like the WTC....
