Out of the box thinking would lead one to think that targets need not be large. The puppetmasters see that America is expecting another WTC the next time. Good time for them to slip in a few small ones to the left when the whole country is looking right. A good boxer does not throw haymakers every punch. The majority of the fight is mixing it up in the corners.

ITA!!! There were quite a few *little* terrorists acts until Sept.11. Americans just moaned and groaned and rolled over and went back to sleep until the big one woke them up. Now, they are on alert but they have no idea what to look out for. They better not fall asleep again and look out for the little things which are signs of bigger things to come.

We shouldn't assume that bin Laden's operation functions like a Swiss watch. On 9/11, even as the Trade Center towers were felled, his attempts to destroy the White House and the Capitol failed. The original, 1993 WTC attack was intended to kill 200,000 people, but ended up taking only six lives. Yousef's plan to blow up 12 airliners in flight was scotched. The Millenium bombing was foiled. In many respects, bin Laden's army is a ramshackle army. Very possibly -- not certainly, but possibly -- he has no master plan for a follow-up, or none that he can effect with a high degree of confidence. OTOH, he has numbers: dozens of sleepers, plus a Fifth Column of perhaps 100,000 Muslim supremicists on the US mainland. As this thing progreses, I expect to see ongoing terrorist activity in the US, ranging from large-scale, chemical weapons attacks to smaller suicide bombings and the like on targets of opportunity. Many will be foiled or go off half-cocked, and this may well be such an incident. If so, I assume that the authorities are downplaying it to avoid panic, and because they feel the need to keep up the "Muslims are our friends" facade, because the alternative would present them with some tough choices vis à vis registration, detention, or expulsion of the jihad supporters in our midst.
