Possible Longboat terrorist Incident

By now, most everyone knows President George W. Bush began that fateful day, Sept 11 on Longboat Key, but the FBI is now investigating whether terrorists also began that fateful day here on the island.

At about 6 a.m. Sept. 11, Longboat Key Fire Marshall Carroll Mooneyhan was at the front desk of the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort as Bush prepared for his morning jog. From that vantage point, Mooneyhan overheard a strange exchange between a Colony receptionist and security guard.

A van occupied by men of Mid-Eastern descent had pulled up to the Colony stating they had a "poolside" interview with the president, Mooneyhan said. The self-proclaimed reporters then asked for a Secret Service agent by name. Guards from security relayed the request to the receptionist, who had not heard of either the agent or plans for an interview, Mooneyhan said.

The receptionist gave the phone over to a nearby Secret Service agent who said the same thing -no one knew of an agent by that name or of any possible interview.

The agent told the occupants of the van to contact the president's public relations office in DC and turned them away from the premises, Mooneyhan said.

In light of the attacks, Mooneyhan wonders if what he witnessed is related to the events of Sept. 11. So does the FBI.

"That's very strange," said an unnamed agent with the Sarasota field office of the FBI, who directed agents to look into the matter.

Earlier, the FBI questioned a Longboat Key man who also had a strange run-in with a van occupied by men of Mid-Eastern descent.

At 8:50 a.m. the man sttod on the Sarasota bayfront waiting for the presidential motorcade to pass. A dilapidated van passed him with two men of Middle Eastern descent "screaming out the windows,'Down with Bush' and raising their fists in the air".

The Longboat Key resident later reported the incident to police, who turned the matter over to FBI agents who questioned him.

Yes, there is a heck of a lot that we don't get, even on FOX News.

In my own little job, I keep my ears and eyes open.

I work at a small university. I am not one of those liberal nut-job professors, rather I am support staff (jock-strap, a supporter). My favorite talk shows are, 1. G. Gordon Liddy, 2. Rush, 3. Sean Hannity.

I work with many foreign students, oops, the PC term is 'international' students.

Mostly from India and Turkey. No arabs.

The Turks are happy that we caught Saddamnable. If you think about it, there are two good reasons for that.

1. Turks ain't arabs. Islam aside, I have come to think that this is a TRIBAL war.

2. Iraq is REAL close to Turkey. This is like having a well-armed homocidal maniac next door.

The Indians don't care much. They are much more interested in the World Cricket championship. (Australia won, this year.)

We have one pakistani. She is conflicted.

This was one of several stories that was reported shortly after 9/11. This particular incident had several threads going.The news media spiked all of them from direction of SS I'm sure.Can you imagine had they been successful in an assassination attempt against GW on the morning of 9/11 and then the plane assault later that same morning.

I was at the Bayfront that day standing near where the president drove by, with a sheriff and or police car every 100yards I assure you no one had the Balls to yell bad things about the president, I have never seen that much security for anyone in my life, and the crowds were happy and respectful... We have lots of rednecks with beards in old vans that live in sarasota, its not uncommon to see them at all especially towards the beach area and Bayfront around Marina Jack. I don't by this article. fiction

Yes, and if the Pentagon plane had hit the WH (the real target, imo) AND the PA plane had hit the Congressional building.

This article was written September 27th.There are other articles written about this same incident within a couple of days of the incident.This fire marshall, we have his name,do you think he would make this up? Would he possibly jeopardize his career by making up a story about an apparent assassination attempt on the President of the United States? I don't think he would.
