[history]
Even by her usual incendiary standards, Ann Coulter's response to the terrorist attacks was something of a jaw-dropper.
"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity," the conservative commentator declared in her column on National Review Online.
Those words created an uproar at the Web site, which refused to run a follow-up piece in which Coulter singled out what she called "swarthy males." She promptly began bad-mouthing National Review, which responded by axing her as a contributing editor.

You and me both. Even now it pays to have a dictionary close by when reading the articles. I can see why the writing style turns some people off. I'm sorry to see people wanting to avoid NR-they give us so much ammunition to fight the war of ideas with the Left.

"We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity," I was under the impression that forced conversion was one of the Taliban's major transgressions. We want to emulate that? Not a chance.
Ann has simply lost it.

Thanks for the link -- it looks promising. Just added it to my favorites.

Thanks for the compliments, Kay.
But here's my problem with National Review's summary decision to can one of the finest conservative columnists in America today: Her article passed their editorial screening filter. It must have, or eles they would not have published it.
The magazine subsequently got a little heat from the PC crowd, and then, like the spineless cowards they are, she gets canned.

I like FR, but sadly many of the posters show their asses as nothing more than fakes who would gladly trade freedom and equality for a seat on the throne making up the rules of the game.
No this is National Review being demoRATS. Which is what they are and if FReepers stand up now we can get them back in the fold or I am afraid they might as well close shop. or become a Rats magazine.

I love those legs!

One of the advantages of Conservatism of Liberalism is that we seperate our intellect from our emotions. Those who are supporting Ann Coulter are succumbing to their emotions. Get a hold of yourself, man! Ann Coulter will go on, NR will go on, FR will go on.

boycott's obviously a leg man.

Well we could tell them that they only have 15 minutes before the bomb drops. Thats enough time to get on their knees and pray.
To: Ymani Cricket
forced conversion? sheesh. Back to the dark ages Son of a gun.. Did you really see the word "forced". I just saw "convert"
To: Polonius
Oh, and the fact that Coulter whined about being "censored" on Politically Incorrect is just the icing on the cake. I'm sure she and Bill Maher had a joint sob session afterward, in which they both cried profusely in a maudlin display of self-pity about being oppressed by the heartless, repressive forces of "PC." You've raised some good points. Ann knew exactly what she was saying in her infamous "convert them to Christianity" question, and then went completely over the top in her next column (the "future widows" one.)

Guess a lot of younger folks don't know much about WFB, Jr.

Son of a gun.. Did you really see the word "forced". I just saw "convert" And how do you propose to "convert" the folks in post #31? They really look like they'd lay out the welcome wagon.
