Gulf Coast Freepers Rally 'Round the Flag at Patriot1's House (with Photos)
Newslady and Patriot1 | October 1, 2001 | Newslady

Posted on 10/01/2001 3:20:55 AM PDT by newslady

American flags were everywhere, and red, white, and blue were the colors of the day at Patriot1’s house in Metairie, LA (a suburb of the Big Easy) for the Gulf Coast Freeper get together.

Approximately 40 patriots sang patriotic songs, reminisced and watched videos about past Freeper activities, and enjoyed the top-notch entertainment provided by JR and the Freepettes, while feasting on a large variety of delicious food.

Patriot1 adorned her fence with 16 posters filled with photos from past Freeper and patriotic activities, as well as printouts of articles from FreeRepublic.com concerning these activities. She also displayed Freeper memorabilia from the March for Justice (October 31, 1998), the Judgment Day Rally (December 5, 1998), the House Managers Dinner (May 5, 1999), and the Free Republic Count the White House Silverware Inaugural Ball (January 20, 2000). There were also lots of photos from the Gulf Coast Chapter Freep of Bill Clinton at the Oracle AppsWorld Convention in New Orleans on February 19, 2001.

Photos were also on display from two patriotic rallies organized by Patriot1 and newslady. The first rally was held on December 4th, 2000, before the presidential election and been decided, and was intended to show support for George W. Bush; the second rally was a victory rally held on December 16, 2000, after Dubya had been declared the winner of the election. In addition to the “wall” of posters, Patriot1 also had scrapbooks with lots of photos. Patriot1and I had a ball reminiscing about the patriotic activities chronicled in the posters and pointing out the photos of particular interest.

Before the entertainment started, we all sang the Star Spangled Banner, after which newslady said a few words about the act of terrorism that occurred on Sepember 11th and the patriotism being shown by Freepers who organize pro-American rallies whenever the pro-terrorists plan their protests. All of the patriots in attendance were united in support of the actions which are being taken by the Bush administration in the war on terror.

Since the defeat of Mary Landrieu in the 2002 Senatorial election is one of the highest priories of the GCC, the entertainment included a rendition by JR and the Freepettes of a song to the tune of “Proud Mary,” but which we called “Not So Proud Mary.” The words were borrowed from the Defeat Proud Mary Landrieu web site. Everyone joined in the chorus, “Stolen, stolen, stolen the election.” JR also performed an original Bill Clinton parody entitled, “Trolling in the White House,” also to the tune of Proud Mary, which was hilarious. The next item on the program was an original musical parody about Janet Reno to the tune of LaBamba, with the Freepettes again performing the background to JR. He ended with another original musical parody about Bill Clinton and Monica Lewinsky to the tune of “He Cheated, He Lied.,” which JR said was very easy to adapt. Ha! The guests showed their appreciation to JR with a thunderous ovation. By the way, JR is actually the brother of Patriot1 and newslady, and the Freepettes were none other than Patriot1 and newslady.

Blam won the award for the Freeper who traveled the farthest, since he drove in all the way from Mobile.

Other Freepers came from far and wide—SAS-MS drove in from Missisisipi with her kiddie Freepers, as did Gulfcoast6 with his daughter and darling granddaughter. We need to apologize to Gulfcoast6 for forgetting to serve the pies which he brought. They were dynamite and were devoured by Patriot1 and newslady’s families after everyone left. No, we didn’t forget to serve them on purpose. Ha! SAS-MS appropriately brought an American flag cake, which made a big hit. Many thanks to her for the disc of photos of our Freeper social which she gave to Patriot1. AmericanMom1 came with her two patriotic kiddie Freepers, who led the singing of various patriotic songs.

Romulus also made a big hit with his delicious cajun jambalaya, BayouLinda and BayouLeo came with one of their kiddie Freepers, who was a star of one of the videos which was shown of an anti-Clinton protest in November, 1998. BayouLeo was kept busy taking photos with Patriot1’s digital camera, and we want to give him a big thank you for helping. The outspoken MawMawQueen and hubby were great, as usual. We had a great time reliving with them our Freep of Bill Clinton earlier in the year. It was great to Slee and hubby again. They both had great signs at our pro-Bush rally in the beginning of December of last year. Patriot1 and I had a great time reminiscing with Slee about the Judgment Day Rally, which we all attended. It was also great to meet Jamaly and hubby. We loved the story of her screen name, which is derived from “Jesus and Mama Always Love You.” TerryO, hubby, and her two kiddie Freepers were also a welcome addition to the crowd. We were glad to have Omegatoo join us—she was a delight and is a real patriot. After listening to “God Bless America” by Kate Smith, GramdaM and FeFe were overcome by patriotism, since they had not heard Kate Smith in a long time. A number of lurkers and wannabe Freepers also attended, including Bea, Jean, Bev, and Ken. A big thank you also to Hiker1 for helping us with our flags and coming up with the great idea of our “wall” of posters.

Here are few a group photos. Other photos can be observed by clicking on the link.

We had so much food that the leftovers will be enough to feed Patriot1 and my families for a week. Forgive me for not crediting everyone for their food contributions, because I didn’t keep track. But we had brisket, ham, baked beans, potato salad, potatoes au gratin, several salads, lots of hors d'oeuvres, lots of deserts, etc., etc., etc.

For those who are interested, here are links to other photos of the event.

It was a wonderful afternoon, filled with good food, good company, good entertainment, and fervent patriotism, and everyone appreciated this escape from the horrendous events of two weeks ago.

Freepers are the greatest people I have ever met.

I agree with you totally. I am so proud to be a Freeper--I consider us the patriots of the 21st century.

Fantastic. This is what we need. Everyone joining together.

It was so good to spend time with dedicated patriots and was particularly good to let loose a little after the tension of the past two weeks. There is no doubt that we are united in support of our great country.

Wish I could have been there.

We wish you could have been there, also, Budge. We were thinking about you while we were going through our old photos from the March for Justice. It is really nice to hear from you.

Great pictures and wonderful people. Thanks for sharing. (BTW, Patriot1 has a lovely home.)

I love Pattiot1's home, too, particulary since it is about a half-mile from my home. For 27 years she lived in Houston, which was not nearly as convenient. She is the one who got me involved with Free Republic and other political activities.

What a joyful post to read on a cloudy Monday morning! Way to go GCC! Your pride is showing BIG TIME!! GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!

And it's great to know that there are many similar gatherings happening across the country. Here in Arizona, I had to stop by several party stores over the weekend to pick up some red, white and blue party supplies. Every store I went to, there were people already there, on the same mission!

It is so wonderful that patriotism is being proudly displayed all over the country again!

We missed some Freepers who were not able to attend. BigEasy_70118 was the one who came up with the idea for a Freeper get together. However, he was flying to DC at the time we were partying, becuase of flight cancellations and the closure of Reagan Airport. We missed him. We also particulary missed Uncle Sham, who was seeing his son off on a foreign trip. We were hoping he would be able to come and reenact his Clinton speech about who else but Monica Lewinsky, which make me laugh myself silly when he first did this at our November 1998 protest to coincide with the Governor's Conference in New Orleans. After that event, we all marched to Pat O'Brien's in the French Quarter and had a party. Other Freepers were not able to come because of health problems, etc., and they were missed. But we still had a great time.

Uncle Sham, we were really hoping that you and Debbie could make the party. We even had a bull horn so that you could do a reenactment of your Clinton routine and the cops cheer. We had a wonderful time! There was sooooo much food and the weather was beautiful. Sorry you all couldn't come.

We even played a video clip of our FReep during the governor's conference. In part of it, you were being interviewed. You did great!

Next time.

There were US flags visible EVERYWHERE! And I actually heard my daughter referring to a girl she disagreed with as a LIBERAL! I was so proud!!!!!

Buffy, I can remember meeting you at either the March for Justice or the Judgment Day Rally. And it is so heartening to hear about Freeper kids who are growing up with the right values. I think my grandkids (some of whom were at our social) are also growing up conservative and very patriotic. I am also so very proud of them!

Wow! You all really put on an event! I really wish we could have made it. That call we're waiting on still hasn't come through. Bless both of you for all you are doing to foster good will and patriotism.

We're also sorry you weren't able to make it, Uncle Sham. I was hoping that your call would come through in time for you to attend, so I brought my bullhorn so you could perform the chants that we all love so much. Ha!

How fun, I love the pictures of the "Future FReepers"!

I am proud to say that a number of the "Future FReepers" are my grandkids, and it warms my heart to see how patriotic they are.

It is so wonderful that patriotism is being proudly displayed all over the country again!

During this time of crisis for our country, it is so good to see people come together and proudly display American flags and other patriotic symbols. By the way, Dittomom, we used some of your photos from your "Ditto Mom's Report" on the March for Justice in our scrapbook and posters. Until Patriot1 got her digital camera, we were dependent on FReepers like you for photos of the various FReeper events.

A VERY good time was had by all. You meet as Freepers just one time and you have friends for life.

It was so good to have you and your family come to our FReeper social. By the way, although I have identified your daughter and granddaughter in the photos, I realize that I didn't identify you. After I get a little more sleep, I am going to make it a point to identify you in some of the photos. Sorry. I kept dozing off while I was preparing this post, and will try to make amends for some of my omissions.

I had to share JR's original musical parody on Janet Reno which he performed with the Freepettes. I can barely control my laughter while I read through all of this. I realize that it's not nice to make fun of others, but she is no innocent person and is one of my least favorite people in the world. Here it is!

Janet Reno
(To the tune of “La Bamba”)

I can’t believe Janet Reno
I can’t believe Janet Reno
She’s such a freak
And she’s so doggone ugly
Yes, she’s so unattractive
She looks like man
She freaks me out; she freaks me out

Janet Reno, she’s not keeno; she’s not keen

I can’t believe Janet Reno
She wants to win an election
In Florida
And she’ll probably steal it
Oh, I can just feel it
She’ll take it away
She’ll have her way; she’ll have her way

Janet Reno, she’s not keeno; she’s not keen

I can’t believe Janet Reno
It’s such a bad sceno
When she’s around
She should wrestle Hulk Hogan
Or maybe beat up Mike Tyson
She’ll kill them all
Cause she’s so bad, cause she’s so bad

Janet Reno, she’s not keeno; she’s not keen

Migosh, you make it sound so long ago! =o)

Just (kinda) hope I was "there" on the Wall Of Pictures. That means I was there...in spirit!

I am still laughing so hard about the Janet Reno song, that I decided to share another of JR's original musical parodies that he performed with the Freepettes at our social. You might gather from these posts that the entertainment at our party was outstanding. By the way, JR is Patriot1's and my brother, and we are extremely proud of him.

Trollin at the White House
(To the tune of “Proud Mary”)

Left a good job at the White House
Didn’t do nothing all night and day
I ate a bunch of tacos, in the Oval Office
Waitin for the ladies to come out and play

Interns keep on turning
Hillary keeps on burning
Trollin, Trollin, Trollin in the White House

Met a lot of girls in Memphis
Even knew a few down in New Orleans
But now the babes are knockin
The White House is a rockin
With Monica Lewinsky in her skin-tight jeans

Interns keep on turning
Hilary keeps on burning
Trollin, Trollin, Trollin in the White House

If you walk into my office
Bet you’re gonna see I’m not wearin no pants
You don’t have to worry, and you don’t have to hurry
I’m just givin Jennifer another chance

Interns keep on turning
Hilary keeps on burning
Trollin, Trollin, Trollin in the White House
