A new Cabinet post of Homeland Defence? What the hell do we have an Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, and Defence Department for, then??
To: BillyBoy
Any chance the Lt. Governor of PA is pro-life?? Yes, he is. He is Mark Schweiker. Unfortunately, he is not running for governor when Ridge's term is up (unless he changes his mind).
The GOP candidate will likely be Mike Fisher, the current AG of PA. The DemocRAT will either be Ed Rendell or Bob Casey Jr.
If the Dem is Casey Jr., it will be an interesting race. A lot of people in PA liked Casey's father - a pro-life Democrat. I *think* Casey Jr. is also a pro-life Democrat and I think Fisher is also. So the pro-aborts may sit out or even field their own candidate, which would divide the Democrat vote.

The second amendment is for homeland defense
To: Grut, Palladin
Oh good. Now we can have turf wars amongst Homeland Defense, DOD, the AG (FBI)and Treasury (ATF & SS). Just what we need. It's not how many boxes, it's what inside the boxes.

"First thing he needs to do is round up all the ankle biting libertarians. Then he can focus on the enemies from without."
The first thing YOU should refect on is why you think anyone but terrorists should be 'rounded up'.
And, on why you have delusions that libertarians are your enemy.
Irrational calls to violate the constitution can not be excused. You dishonor the principles of a free republic.

Marshall Law! Marshall Law!
Just thought I'd save others the time. BTW, did any but me notice that FEMA didn't take over the country? Seems you just can't trust a conspriratist nowadays.
To: Palladin
I sure hope you are right. All we need is yet another cabinet position to support. But I see your point. Sort of a "blue team" to check on everyone else.

...The Enemy Within ~HILLARY~ stared DEFEAT right before her very eyes in the Home of the Brave words of a REAL President of the United States on this night.

Shut up, dick. My sentiments exactly, Archaeus. Hey, as long as we can have asinine extremist comments about rounding up people who's politics they disagree with from the rah-rah gang, here's one for them to chew on:
Why "Homeland Defense"? Why not just go out all out and say, "Defense of der Fatherland!"
Before the rah rah gang goes clueless again, that was only an example of your friend, VA's asininity.

Take it easy there kiddo. The Libertarian's are a party of free thinkers who wish for government to honor it's own Constitution. The Repubies are merely a stumbling mob running headlong towards a cliff.
So there.

As we see the response of average Americans following the horrors of 9/11, I believe that Libertarians may wish for the influence of those who speak from a soap box in Hyde Park.
Begone!
We hold to higher values than hubris and self agrendisment.

I tell my kids all the time: "This is why I moved you to Pennsylvania!" They give me the eye roll, and 'oh, dad', but maybe someday they will realize the importance of what I've been saying.

In the Spring of 1995, Sarah Brady teamed up with newly elected Gov. Tom Ridge to push one of
Pennsylvania's most restrictive state gun control laws in a long time -- Act 17.
As Pennsylvania's Governor, Ridge presided over the passage of Act 17, and then signed it into law. This is NOT good news.

As soon as I heard "homeland defence", I could hear a million libertarians hitting their keyboards at once.
Gov Ridge is OK. He's an ex-jarhead and is as solid as they come for a "commonwealth" like Pa. to run.
I hope his plans include constitutional militia as this would make a whole lot of free-minded people sleep better.

"The second amendment is for homeland defense" This is an end run around the people. Simple law enforcement and the previous civil defence net we had is no longer welcome. We have to comply with the multiculturalists. We can no longer be trusted, out of fairness of course.

It is now official:
"Papers, bitte"
The Office of the People's Internal State Secret Police
is now a cabinet level position.
The war on terrorism will be practiced to perfection on 'American Extremists' before the big World Tour.
