I know Joe, that's what makes you soooo BAD! Keep on rockin' ...:)
To: Travis McGee
Also have 3700 hours as pilot in command.
Maybe the feds and the airlines would be wise to give us passes, and on a volunteer basis and $100.00 bucks a flight we'd start a national registry and cover all flights.

Too simple, and "not invented here".

I know they aren't looking for a past 50 type but somehow I think I could hold my own up there. Sandlady go for it.
Were I not officially classified as too old i think I could go for this it would make the inconvenience of flying maybe worth it.
Stay well - Stay safe - stay armed - Yorktown

Isn't government fun. If a private company refuses to hire someone above a given age, they get sued (usually in Federal court). I just love it when they make all of these laws (social security, sexual harrassment, etc.) and exempt themselves.

Good point!

The element of surprize, of the unexpected happening, dare not be underestinmted.

Let me see, I am 42, 6'3" 165lbs. I can pass as a corporate CEO, computer geek, or office peon. Yeah, tall and thin, however, I can take most people half my age, as I know how to work, having swung sledgehammers, worked as a welder, and am now employed in the computer industry. For fun and exercise, 30 to 40 miles on my bicycle is a rather ordinary ride. Did I mention cool head, and an excellent shot, coupled with knowing how to identify targets before squeezing the trigger? I guess us over the hill types are not up to this sky marshall type of thing.

I have never stopped being amazed at the utter stupidy of our government (all governments).

Stay tuned, this situation is very fluid.
This first "cattle call" is within standard FLEA parameters, based on mandatory retirement age etc.
If the numbers needed are not RAPIDLY brought in, this will change, probably to permit a special category of shorter term "contract" type employment for specified periods, such as five years.

Humble? Me, nope. Arrogant, yes..about who and what I am. I also know what I am not capable of. Such as playing in the NFL. Nor am I, nor will I ever be Stephen Hawking. I did clearly define what I know of as my capabilities.
To: Travis McGee
Typical Bureaucratic mentality.
Under age 37. That ought to make it really easy for terrorists to eliminate half or more of the passengers on any airplane as potential obstacles.
Smart. Really smart.
Who comes up with this &%&@(* ?
To: Publius6961
That's just a first call. See reply #32.
To: stylin_geek
OK, then add in good sense of humor. This age limit is nuts. Retired military would be good candidates for this, but they are pretty much excluded.
To: Bush2000
sn't this age discrimination? I wonder how they arrived at that particular age. That's a universal cut-off age for most strenuous government positions excluding military. FBI, ATF, Secret Service and some other posts have a 37 y-o cutoff. And you probably have to be a U.S. citizen. No, it's not discriminatory.
To: Squantos,Travis McGee
I'm six years under the limit. No criminal record. No mental illness (that I know of). Let me ask my wife...
She said "no f'ing way".
Let me get on my knees...
