I agree, retired military would be excellent. As for a sense of humor, since I lack one, wouldn't that automatically qualify me as stone faced federal marshall? LOL

Gotcha! The LOL at the end of your comment indicates you do have a sense of humor. I can not imagine working for any government unless you had either a sense of humor or a liquor store in the neighborhood that delivered.

This age limit is nuts. Retired military would be good candidates for this, but they are pretty much excluded.

I'm not sure I agree. Sure, old geezers could hold a gun but there might certainly be circumstances aboard an aircraft that call for close-in, hand-to-hand combat. I'd prefer a younger person protecting my plane than some old duffer with a bad back.

You forgot the pharmacy on the corner, next to the liquor store.

Figure that 37 years old is probably the upper limit for a successful professional athlete. Only the rare person older than that can compete with a younger athlete. Remember, everyone, these guys are not preparing for the "average" person but the most challenging opponent.

Guys like you can't get in 20 years by age 57 to retire at halfpay. 57 is the Feeral LEO max - a lot of people by then have serious problems or they're coming soon. LEOs health breaks down about 10 years before the average citizen. That's the reason for the seemingly arbitrary 37 limit - they want people for whom it'll be a career - not that you can't be double-tough waaayy past 57...

Yeah, I missed the age cut off by a bunch. But I've got military and law enforcement background. A bunch of us old farts would really screw up anybody trying to pick us out of the crowd. By the way, how can they descriminate about age anyway. The cops aren't allowed to.

Sorry Charlie.

I am that old geezer with a bad back.

I can teach anyone to kill very quickly with their bare hands from the front or behind the bad guy. You don't have to be super strong. You just need the knowledge and the guts to use it.

"While deployed, they have limited personal contact with family and limited time off."

I found out today that a soccer Dad acquaintance who I thought was a cop is actually an ATF agent. (Yikes!) Next week he will begin Air Marshal duty. He will leave his family for 60 days. He gets to come home for two weeks then leaves for 60 days again. He and his wife, a school teacher, have four small children.

I pray for all military, rescue and law enforcement families as they cope with hardships and separations.

All FLEAs (ATF,DEA, etc) are under the FBI for "the duration". Sixty day deployments, with two week furloughs, that's rough.

Let's look at my resume.
33yo.
6yrs Navy
No Bachelor'sDegree
Did security for Nuclear ASROC "certified" ship.
Secret security clearance.
Honorable Discharge/E5 after 6yrs.
No drugs except for waiverable less than 6x marijuana in H.S.
No criminal or civil convictions of any kind.

Now for the most important stuff that they want now that they are desperate.

Ass fits in a coach seat.
Know how to eat crap from above and not bitch loud enough to be heard by the boss.
Never went to the psych ward for eval. like 10% of the crew that wanted to build models and wear shoes without laces while we were in the shipyard.
Learned on Shore Patrol that you, "never try to reason with a drunk".
Can stay awake on planes and don't get constipated from chicken Cordon Bleu type airline meals.

I'm thinking about applying just to see how desperate they are.

My wife would never go for it even though I don't think all the new hires they are going to be looking for will be shipping overseas as the application implies and states as they are trying to fill the stateside planes now.

What do you think Travis? Are they desperate enough to train a guy how to do everything except not shoot himself or someone else on accident?
