That's a universal cut-off age for most strenuous government positions excluding military. FBI, ATF, Secret Service and some other posts have a 37 y-o cutoff. And you probably have to be a U.S. citizen. No, it's not discriminatory.

Figure that 37 years old is probably the upper limit for a successful professional athlete. Only the rare person older than that can compete with a younger athlete. Remember, everyone, these guys are not preparing for the "average" person but the most challenging opponent.
