WHERE WOULD YOU GET YOUR NEWS FROM IF FREEREPUBLIC WASN'T HERE?

Words to ponder ................

Absolutely pathetic! This data shows that too many Freepers are really socialists looking for a free lunch!

You posted, There are over 60,000 registered users on FreeRepublic and only 1,000 help keep this forum running regularly."

That means these 1,000 or 1.6% of FreeRepublic users are really conservatives. The rest must really be communists or socialists who want a free lunch at FreeRepublic!

I'm retired and on social security. FreeRepublic gets an automatic check each month after my Social Security Check is deposited. I started this last December after FreeRepublic helped to save this Republic from be Goronized after the election!

Each month, Check Free sends an automatic check to my mortgage company, my church, my grandkids' education funds, Free Republic and another brave one man web site!

If each free loader cancelled their liberal fish wrap and sent to Free Republic an automatic monthly check of one half of what they pay the left wing extremist fishwrap, Free Republic could expand and really drive left wing extremists really crazy!

The other way to do this is to cancel your expensive tv cable which probably does not carry Fox Network News. Then subscribe to one of the TV satellite services. Then send your monthly savings in an automatic check to Free Republic!

Of course the conservative way to do it is really very simple. Make a monthly pledge to Free Republic and set it up to be done on an automatic basis. Then move on to the rest of your life and do more good deeds!

Usually in any organization, 10 to 20 % of the people involve contribute 80% of the value received and do 80 to 90% of the work. The 1.6% of Freepers being regular contributors is a truly pathetic % for those 59,000 who call themselves conservatives and do not contribute on a regular basis! (I know that some Freepers give some rather large sums on a yearly basis, and this nagging is not intended for them!)

I wonder how many who are so proud of an early date of belonging to FreeRepublic are also proud regular donators?

I would like to see a symbol by our profiles noting that person is a regular giver/donator to Free Republic. That would tell me a lot about someone that I don't know. If they are not a regular donor, then their message will be filtered with, "Why Not!"!

Our church has installed a new organ, new pews and recently completed a $650,000 earthquake retro fit. There is a plaque with the significant givers for each project! As Senior Warden emeritus, I get a lot of complaints and suggestions from members. Before I act or do anything, I check to see if they are regular pledgers/donors and if they supported the church in its time of special needs! Guess which ones, I really listen to and get involved with? I would like to know which Freepers are regular or monthly supporters!

I will be increasing my monthly donation to FreeRepublic starting in October! That is my monthly tithe to be able to come here and really get the news! I know that many retired and limited income people can't donate on a regular basis, so my "grampa nagging here" is aimed at those who can and don't, and are really socialist freeloaders! Who want a lot for nothing!

Grampa off his soap box!

Thank you, Jim for your wonderful invention! Like all wonderful inventions there is a price tag unless you are a communist or a socialist!

I had a question from someone. Can anyone answer it?

"Can you direct me to a site that explains PAYPAL?"

RottiBiz requested that I repost a couple of posts I ran a couple of threads ago. Now, keep in mind that they are for the past week, where traffic increased by a good 50%, but if the Robinsons hadn't built the site to handle it, where would we be?
Just running some numbers over the past week:

-More than 74,000 distinct hosts served per day
-More than 2,024,000 requests for information from JohnRob's Mighty Mouse server per day
-Over 62 GB of information transferred per day (to put it in bandwidth terms, that's an average of better than 5890 kbps, or nearly 4 T-1 lines, and that's every last second of the day).

Handling that kind of traffic costs, folks. Of course, I'm preaching to the choir, but that's so the choir can preach to the masses.

One last number to chew on from this past week: 3357 distinct posters per day. If these 3300 or so (rounded down for easier math) donated a mere $9/month, we would be completely self-sufficient.

This is from the previous thread after I had to leave: posts #73, 98, 106, 119, 127, 136 from BADJOE - my (bad) quick in the head math tells me that is $1,055.00 and at post #98 BADJOE remarked that over $5,000 had been raised today.

I have only one thing to say

THANK YOU FREEPERS

Actually I have a second thing to say - - WIMom has been unrelenting in her work to get others to contribute - and I think she deserves a MAJOR round of applause.

THANK YOU WIMom

Just a thought, I have been donating to Free Republic by a monthly debit for quite awhile. I cancelled my socialistic/liberal-leaning newspaper and switched the price of the paper to a Free Republic donation. I get much more for my money. I get more information, quicker reporting, and an open, honest discussion of the events. Plus, I get a sense of accomplishment that I helped keep this wonderful site working.

Oooo, you're good. I clicked on this thread thinking it was just another meaningless vanity, but to my amazement it's a fundraising thread. Fine by me, FR needs the donations of our members. For that I give you a BIG BUMP

BTW, there is no other place to get my news. I've already donated recently. I'll give more as extra cash becomes available. I'm a little strapped at the moment.

2 questions:
1. What is our goal for this year?
2. How much have we raised so far?

...With all due respect, I get news from lots of sources. I am registered at FR because I want to see opinions and a forum that I can respond. And, yea, I've sent a few dollars to FR. Enough said. Thanks to you at FR.
