This is the account that my kids are taking to their middle school this morning. You'll forgive me if I bump the hell out of this. It may not be perfectly written. The formatting is probably screwed. My story may not be the worst or most memorable, but I was there. I shall never forget.

Of course they didn't. What you saw was mostly burning Jet-A. Almost anything will burn if you get it hot enough, and what doesn't burn first, will melt or weaken, as did the structural steel of the building. That, plus the damage caused by the impacts, caused the collapse. The images I saw today appear to have been cleaned up in some way, than what I'd seen earlier. You could cleary see the collapse start at the place where the a/c hit, and the weight of the floors above caused the structure below to fail, then that slamming into the floor below it, did the same to it, and so on to the bottom , when the sudden stop probably caused the upper floors to finally join their lower "brothers" in collapsing. Similary for that video that started as some sort of training or documentary from Gamma Productions?, something like that of the first plane boring in. Before today I coudl never actually see the airplane, just the dust and then flames. Today you could clearly see the aircraft itself.

Probably an F-15 rather than an F-16. Pictures I saw of aircraft over New York in the first few hours were F-15s.

Oh I can only imagine the horror of your experience will live with you forever. We have not been subjected to the desperate people jumping from the burning building as you were as the media has not shown us that. I am not so sure I could stand to see it.
On the contrary, the piece was so well written that I could almost see the burning buildings and the girl that was curled up in a ball hysterical. Almost, but never would I be able to comprehend seeing what you did. Thank you for sharing this with us, and I hope you are able to keep the determination we will need to go forward with what we must do.
